Another pub music night

I'm just home from another pub music night with a mixture of friends and strangers. I was wearing the skirt above.

As I walked into the pub on arrival I met a fairly elderly lady who I didn't know but who seemed to know me. She said "what are you wearing? what are you dressed up as?" I replied "I'm dressed up as a bloke in a skirt." She then asked me if I was comfortable to which I replied "yes extremely". As we walked into the pub she started discussing me and my skirt with some of my friends - who have seen me in skirts several times before. I asked her if it worried her and pointed out that it certainly didn't worry me. This raised a laugh around the bar and the conversation was over. We then had a really nice friendly music night and she even bought two of my CD's from me.

I guess most people on this forum will have had similar experiences to this. It would be really nice and helpful to hear about them.

Keep on skirting, it really is fun!

The SO and I were invited to a barbecue by an ex co-worker, who as it turns out, lives within walking distance, about 1/2 mile. I wore an Hawaiian shirt, and mid calf skirt, I would say fairly soft material, but possibly slightly heavier that yours. We let ourselves into the house, as the chatting was too loud to hear our knocking. Found a group of strangers, ( to us ) in the kitchen, and enquired after the lady in question. She was out in the garden burger wrestling. There were some startled faces at my clothing, but everybody just sort of shrugged and bid us welcome. Nobody even raised the subject. It was a good night. Particularly pleasant to walk out in the evening air in a very comfortable rig.

Derek, you need to get rid of what appears to be pants hangers and get some proper skirt hangers. :hide:
Nice looking skirt though.

Noted! Although I'm sure you're aware that some skirts don't have hanging loops in them so these self-grip hangers are the only solution I can find.

Skirt hangers are wider than pants hangers, because skirt waists are wider than pants cuffs. You can get them anywhere and they're cheap.
Courage, conviction, nerve, verve, dash, panache, guts, nuts, balls, gall, élan, stones, whatever. Get some and get skirted.

Whenever I bought a skirt in ASDA etc I would cheekily ask for an extra skirt hanger ( they would always provide a hanger with the purchased skirt ). I would try and ask for a skirt hanger when purchasing other clothing too. I explain that I have just installed a hanging rail and am getting enough hangers to hang my skirts. It has worked every time so far. You can buy them but they aren't so common around the shops.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

I'd say use what you have on hand. There is little good in being wasteful of resources. The important thing is the hanging, not what you hang them on. I use whatever clamp hangers are available. If the width isnt perfect, I leave a bit of slack in the middle of the waist. It also keeps the waist from getting stretched too wide.

That's interesting, I was thinking of something completely different. All my skirt hangers work like these:

I may have even bought a set of these, but a lot of what I have come from my mother's closet after my parents died. They were just going to be thrown out.

I have a whole bunch that look like that as well. When the local Coldwater Creek store was closing up shop about a year back they also sold off a lot of their display hardware, and among that were all sorts of hangers. My ex picked up a whole pile of them and I wound up with quite a few as I seem to have more skirts than she had. I forgot what she paid for them, but it was a lot less than 2 bucks per.
