Today at Barnes & Noble

Post by Uncle Al »

My wife had already go into Barnes & Noble. I waited a few minutes to have a smoke.
Then I went inside. As I was going in, I held the 2nd door open for a man & wife leaving
Barnes & Noble. The man was pushing a stroller with a 2year old (?). The wife came
out 2nd. Anyway the man said 'thank you sir' and the wife said 'like your kilt'. I didn't
correct anyone but I was wearing a black, below the knee, skirt with blue & white plaid
shirt. I always wear my 'belt-bag' as a sporran.
I guess that's why she thought it was a kilt.

We left Barnes & Noble, went to the Cheese Cake Factory to get my wife a piece of
Carrot Cake Cheese Cake. That was the desert she wanted for our anniversary.

All-in-all, a great 'event' at B & N ;)

Most people don't really know what makes a kilt a kilt. I think some call anything with pleats a kilt. Others refer to any skirt a man is wearing as a kilt. I don't sweat it.

As I was checking out today at Target, the cashier remarked that she always likes seeing me in my many different kilts. Then she complimented me on the one I was wearing and on my 2-inch-heel oxfords. Then she asked if I was Scottish, and I replied, "No, just crazy. You know, one good thing about being an old man is that you get to be a crazy old man," and she liked that too. Easy.
Courage, conviction, nerve, verve, dash, panache, guts, nuts, balls, gall, élan, stones, whatever. Get some and get skirted.
