Yesterday my flat, with its relatively spacious terrace, was used for a friend's birthday party. The friend's phone rang: a guest she had invited, but whom no-one else knew, was lost and could not find my flat. Giving instructions was too difficult, so someone had to go and find him, but how would the two strangers recognize each other?

The hostess was busy in the kitchen and could not go out, so, for once, I could make myself useful. "Just tell him, I said, to look for a man in a skirt." Problem solved!

And a good time was heady all, thanks to the skirt, but mainly to the sudden arrival of summer temperatures, allowing us to be out on the terrace till late.

Au contraire, I encounter other men wearing skirts or kilts once every couple, of months or so.

A guy from this board wearing a denim skirt in a grocery store. Another guy at a tattoo convention; he used to work for Utilikilts. A guy in my section who wore a kilt to a hockey game several to times. A musician playing in a local microbrewery. A guy in a denim kilt at a a musical concert. Busboys at Tilted Kilt and, in one case, a customer.

Not to mention hundreds of guys (including policemen) at Celtic fests.

Actually, Phoenix to Montreal is about 2200 miles, which is 500 miles further than Dublin to Moscow.

As I will drive this June, Wilmington NC to Flagstaff AZ is 2125 miles via direct I-40, though our route will be perhaps twice that long since we will make a significant southward sweep to Big Bend Natl. Park., then north through New Mexico to Durango CO, then to the Grand Canyon.
