Lets have a world skirt wearing day

Post by hairy »

Naturists have a world naked bike riding day, so how about us having a world skirt wearing day? There are too many skirt wearing blokes that keep it all behind closed doors isn't it time to do something? This summer I will be going out with the wife in my short mini's.

Well, they tried a world subway ride last summer and the turnout was pretty meager.

Correction it's cyclists that have a naked bike ride, the nakedness is to show how venerable we are and also it's a protest against using up all the oil in the world with gas guzzling cars.
I've rode in a couple.

Best plan would be to make every day Skirt Wearing Day.

If others want to arrange such a day I might join in, if I happen to be out and about and it's a day I'd go skirted.

Well, as I think about it, chances are any cyclist who takes long rides in hotter weather is likely to soak through enough sweat that if you wouldn't have bothered to sterilize the saddle before, there isn't much reason to change now.

The last Saturday in May seems to have been chosen as "World Subway Ride" day, so it is a simple matter to build on that existing foundation and extend it to include any men wearing skirts in public. Not everyone lives near a subway or a tramway - and even those who do would still have to walk through the streets to get to it.

"World Skirt Day" could be marked by men wearing skirts whilst they go about their normal life on the Friday before "World Subway Ride" Saturday. This would give timid first-timers a chance to try out wearing skirts in public with none of the usual stigma and fear. It would give two consecutive stigma-free days to the bolder ones who are lucky enough to live in cities with good public transport.

In 2015 the last Saturday in May is the 30th, so let's declare "World Skirt Day" to be 29th May.
There is no such thing as a normal person, only someone you don't know very well yet.

Here in Malaga, every day is skirt-wearing day (well for me, at least !)

Well almost half way there in the USA:

Wearing kilts easily gets you in the skirted mode - - -

It is that time again in the USA - National Tartan Day - April 6th !

Wear and sport your tartan proudly !
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

I would happily support a World Skirt Wearing Day - I do have some doubts about its value, which I will explain later. However, naturism is something quite different. Obviously some people on here will not agree with me, but I don't think the naked bike rides should ever have been permitted in public places and the police should intervene and deal with this behaviour robustly. The naturists and anti-car activists have their own websites and forums but this is the only one I know of which aims to promote choices of skirts for men. That's what we have in common and what we should be focusing on and discussing, IMO. Let's talk about skirts, guys, which is something we agree on. :D

If we are to encourage a World Skirt Day, then my view is we need to have a clear objective to have such a day if it is to be taken seriously. I quite like the idea of the red dress run - but the problem with that is the very fact it is a novelty is what makes it viable. If it's not a novelty - it won't happen. In a way, that means we are between a rock and a hard place: if we have a special day - then it's a novelty and the novelty value only works if we don't wear these garments for the other 364 days a year. That is hardly going to break new ground.

If we don't have special days - then what else can we do? Can we not somehow encourage the mainstream retailers to sell garments which are a biyt like Utilikilts? How about solid coloured kilts for boys?

The trick is to affiliate with some popular cause and then assemble enough skirt wearers to attract new news media.

The WNBR, for example, promotes energy responsibility and freedom. The Red Dress Runs support various charities, and so forth. So you have to plan the thing, send out press releases, and then see who comes.

Richard, did you mean venerable or vulnerable?

As for bike seats, Tor, it isn't the sweat that bothers me, but the potential for other possible excretions that might be abated by shorts.

Getting away from thinking about bicycle seats, which I did in my teens.
I am ambivalent about the idea of a skirt wearing day, it might be instant gratification for the likes of me struggling with going public and having an "excuse", then pretending I have alzheimer's all the other days of the year "... oh, isn't it skirt wearing day today?"
I would rather take the hard road and work towards men wearing skirts as normal rather than a novelty.
My name is Anthony, please accept me for the person that I am.

There's some merit to that. Like, why should, "Wear a SkirtDay," be any different?

Then again, there's no such thing as a bad convert (even if just for a day) or bad publicity.

With respect to a world skirt wearing day, every day is one for me. When I've been employed, but required to wear trousered clothing, I usually wind up waiting until I'm off the clock, then, in the parking lot, doing a quick switcheroo, before driving home. With wrap skirts (like Utilikilts and other kilted garmets), it's pretty quick and easy. Those times when I've been cleared to wear one on the job, then I typically just show up wearing a Utilikilt or traditional kilt and getting to work.

Caught, and then carried though to the saddle by sweat, more like, unless I miss my guess. Though unsightly objects would be held captive, at least.
