Tunes... Why'd it have to be tunes?

Post by crfriend »

This is just so wrong on so many levels that it beggars the imagination:

... but yet it's surprisingly compelling. Head-banging, even.

And to think that I started the search looking for ragtime pieces played on harpsichord. As Samuel F. B. Morse once tapped out, "What hath god wrought?"

Not my favourite timbre, but I'll grant that guy is good. His 'toccata' is about half the length of what Bach actually wrote and the background is stunning....featuring a lovely- looking Baroque organ that would really do justice to the piece.

Quelle horreur !

Leave Bach alone; he did a good job and needs no improving.

I heard that someone has written a book putting down JSB as a complete failure but for his agent's hype. I never read (past tense) the hype and I won't read the book. The original music is good enough for me.

Ironic that he chose to massacre that fine piece right in front of an organ on which it could have been played properly. He misses out the entire toccata except for the famous intro; loses almost all of the harmony (are JSB's chords too difficult for him?) ... It's hard to know where to stop, really.
Keep on skirting,

I'd only remind you all that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, and ask if the term "curmudgeon"means anything to you? It wasn't great, it wasn't awful, it was just different. As my mother used to say, "If you can't say something nice, then say nothing." Just go chase children off your lawns, LOL!
