Hi.
I just wanted to say that the sincerity of those words, put together a few years ago, still holds firm. But unfortunately I no longer find enough hours in the day to sit facing a computer screen and keep going over the same ground in the traditional forum manner. I dropped all forums I was contributing to, about four of them, some years ago when an idiot disputed my feelings about keyboard musicians playing along to previously concocted music tracks in order for them to sound better than they are to their largely unknowing audiences. I had never heard of such a lousy trick to earn £400 for 2 hours playing as a top 'professional' artist! His argument was that he spends hours putting together the backing tracks, which are a skill in themselves. The more important fact that it was totally impossible, from a non-player's viewpoint - which most of an audience are - to tell what was actually his 'live' playing and what wasn't seemed to hold no concern for him. I told him what I thought, and he told me more or less to mind my own business, which I did, and got on with my life. Sadly the trickery still goes on, and I now can't be bothered to get involved. Several other professional musicians backed up my feelings at the time, and now make a point of saying to their audience that '...what you hear is what I am playing', or words to that effect.
Unfortunately, whether I'm right or wrong, I say what I think, and thought it best to simply enjoy life by just getting on with it without getting involved in forum chat. I still go kilted at every opportunity. Only yesterday a woman in the queue at the local store asked if I was feeling cold in my 'skirt'. It was a pretty darned cold morning I must admit, but kilts keep you warm anyway. She would have known that, and would have known it was a kilt, not a skirt, so I just gave her a blank look and carried on. To make a point to her that it was a kilt would have been pointless. She was obviously being cynical.
Anyway, yes, I'm still alive...and sorry that my photos have gone (I cancelled my photobucket account before realising that some pics were posted at forums). Never mind - I'm sure you've seen them all before...
As I said at the time: Walk tall, stay cool, break the rule.
With my best wishes to everyone at skirtcafe, here's a tune I like called 'Love Walked In'...
