[To continue the thought]
... for without them the world would be forever static and unchanging, not so far off a notion as a frozen pond in the gloom of darkest February. Without the stimulation the "different ones" provide, we'd be confined to an endless stream of sameness -- that sort of sameness that makes some take their lives in despair.
I love the opening gambit of "Poets and Misfits". Sadly, I never really appreciated poetry as much as I should have (although that is slowly being corrected) but I can absolutely identify with "Misfit" -- yea, I can even feel proud of it.
Happy New Year, lads. Whether we entertain, appall, intrigue, scare, or inspire, what we do with our style choices make a difference. One mind at a time.

Re: This fits -
We've just returned from a night of revelry for people 'of a certain age', in that the package was a cracking good meal from 8.30 on, followed by ballroom dancing to a perfectly decent group who didn't make it difficult to converse the whole evening, so by midnight with everyone on the floor we all had our eardrums intact.
We slid out the door at 10 minutes before the final whistle so we could get away easily. All very civilised & now it's bed-y-byes time.
Happy New Year to you all.
Tom

I've been reminded many times that I'm eccentric. I'd rather not fit anyone's pigeonhole.
You don't get to judge me by your standards. I have to judge me by mine.
Re: This fits -
I aspire to eccentricity; sadly I'm not wealthy enough, so I have to put up with just being weirdTaj wrote:I've been reminded many times that I'm eccentric. I'd rather not fit anyone's pigeonhole.
Have fun,
Ian.
Do not argue with idiots; they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I'd go happily with "weird" too.
That is certainly preferable to "Norman Normal".
In these P.C. days, some may say "otherly challenged"!
Personally, I've actually learned not to care too much.
Sometimes it pays to get out a bit more.
