However, I'm either a size 32 or 34, and this item is not available in those sizes. Thanks for the site.
That's a nice-looking skirt, but a wee bit casual for the way I seem to roll.

From descriptions had, you don't sound like a "size" 32, but rather a "waist-size" 32. A women's size 32 could sleep two comfortably.

They listed 32 as a "size", but yes, that is what it meant. I'm probably a 34 or 36, except I've been losing weight and intend to lose more this year, and some of the skirts I bought are starting to seem too big.

I like casual. I rarely dress up in any fashion.

They mearure skirts by waist size in inches, seems pretty accurate as well. I would order a 44 to fit my 44" waist. And did so, yesterday. Again!

Yes, The Polynesian Culteral Center is an amazing (and informative) place to visit. Unfortunately I went there long before I had discovered the joys of wearing skirts and dresses, so I didn't make the connection at the time. But I do remember all the native peoples looking very pretty anbd handsome in their attire (unlike most of us tourists). Unfortunately none of the women were topfree, but I guess that's to be expected, given that this is the US.

I will surely remember to wear a skirt or dress if I ever visit again.

Of our next door neighbours she is Polynesian and great fun to be around. Last year we went to what could be described as a Polynesian evening and it was an amazing event! We really enjoyed it and talked to loads of people. Well, we are going again this year and this time I thought that I would wear a short-sleeved white shirt and, since I don't have a lava-lava, a sarong worn in its long form. Hmmm.

Do it Sinned! A lava lava and a sarong are essentially the same thing, long rectangles of material. They just differ in type/thickness/pattern. I'm sure they'll love it! I've had several polys before compliment my kilts and such; they always say real men wear skirts. And amazingly, if you get enough material wrapped around, it's not as cold as you think. What will MOH say?

Seriously, you may want to consider a formal lavalava/sulu like the following:

You can easily warm this one up by getting some 1.5 meters of poly-cotton fabric and wrapping it under the lavalava. That's what I do and it keeps you quite warm.

Or one of these, and just sew some cotton or cotton-poly material in as a liner. It works just fine in keeping you warm. They both come with hip pockets and a card/cash pocket in front that is quite useful.

Let us know how it goes!

Hey, PB, thanks. The event will be indoors so no problem with temperature and no need for extra insulation. I have been looking around the internot and it seems that the sarong is just worn instead of trousers! So a dress shirt, tie and even suit jacket are the norm. Not sure what to wear around the feet. Just socks and normal shoes or to go in flip-flops? I might even wear a hat to add to the effect. I have some nice brightly coloured shirts with dragons on them that would go well but I don't know if dragons are a recognised part of their culture. I could always ask Beth ( my neighbour ). As for carrying things around we won't need much - a little money and one mobile for emergencies. MOH and I are quite inventive as to where to carry them.

Sounds like a wonderful experience, I'll have to go to the PCC (the one in Hawai'i, as opposed to the one that runs under overhead wire), and I'll be wearing an ie lavalava when I do.

I thought these looked interesting (especially at $10!) unfortunately $51.40 to ship to the UK is a bit of a dampener :(

Have fun,

Ian.

The Polynesian Cultural Center is a project of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) which may preclude topfree women.
