Well, we have reached a bit of an impasse. I have maintained that she is being domineering and unreasonable by imposing her narrow viewpoint but she has turned that on its head by accusing me of the same by imposing my skirt wearing her and parading it in front of her ALL the time. I must admit that with the warm weather I enjoy wearing a skirt in preference to shorts at the moment and that in winter trousers will be worn more often. I have also said that it always seems to be the case that she gets her own way and that's not ideal in a marriage. Oh, well, back to the drawing board.
The only bright spot was that she later said that I was colour co-ordinated as I had been wearing yellow underwear and a yellow skirt with white T-shirt. Didn't know really how to respond to that so I just said, "I normally colour co-ordinate my clothes whether I am wearing a skirt or trousers." I know that she's not happy with my skirt wearing but most of the time I just don't know to what depth she's thinking!

What you need to get yourself is a halter maxidress with straps on the shoulders. You could wear that around the house when your SO is there. After seeing you wear that get-up for awhile she just might yearn for the old days when you wore skirts.

Seriously JhnH I couldn't wear such a gown as lovely as it looks. I have a hairy chest and it would look ridiculous on me. It's the main reason I don't really consider dresses for me - most have a low front to show of cleavage and that I don't need. I do have an idea or two though but need to think things through.

Well, I do have that dress. Since I don't have a hairy chest and let's put it in a (ahem) masculine context, I have "pecs" (but not muscular) I do wear it around the house sometimes. I guess I really have a tolerant wife whom I really love.
My only actual dress is a black racerback maxi, but I usually still wear a t-shirt over it. I sewed a dress of sorts, but it's more a super-long tank, down to my feet, with no real tailoring. I don't see myself ever using one that was designed to accomodate/accentuate breasts.

Now there is a nice sharp outfit. I have to agree with Carl that I prefer the tall socks to the tights, at least for this set. It wouldn't be something I'd pick for myself, but it is unequivocably a great credit to skirts for men.

Have to agree on the tights. Might black go better as you appear to be wearing a black belt and the black tights might draw the attention to the belt, your waist and the tartan detail. But otherwise an awesome kilt. Didn't think that the tartan went with the grey at first but now I see that it does.

Halfway to being a tartan kilt, I suppose, but better because it has pockets. I like the tartan in the inverted pleat - follows the tartan line down from the tie nicely.
Very smart, Tom, as usual. I prefer your bare knees and socks, personally. Is it a wrap skirt like a kilt? or a skirt you have to pull on over your other clothes?

I too vastly prefer my knobblies. The skirt has a front fly opening in the yoke cleverly disguised by the diamond-set tartan pattern and a normal waistline button & metal hook closure. The four box pleats front & back centre and sides have tartan reveals. At 22" it hits just above the knee where I like it best. I need to find a pair of long 'schoolboy' lighter grey socks.
With the fly undone I put it on just like shorts & I love the feel & freedom of it.
If you think about it it does not matter where the zipper is on a skirt as long as it is easily reached. When I urinate standing up with a skirt on I simply lift the hem instead of fumbling with the zipper.

But, judging by Skirtyscot's comments, the first meeting did not do much good as far as overcoming his wife's prejudices.
On the second visit, she did not even come over to say hello! No blame on her; SS and I had a good long chat, and I'd be delighted to see you, Tom, accompanied or not!
