Too many to choose from....

Post by jeanfor »

Don't you think that the problem with skirts is to decide which one to wear. That is really something you do not have to deal with pants.
Depends on the mood, the weather, the top you want to wear.... and the length as well.

Interestingly, that has become a bit of a problem for me from time to time, and I now understand how women -- who may have an entire walk-in closet stacked to the rafters with options -- can (quite honestly) say, "But I have nothing to wear!" (The bloke puts his monkey-suit on and goes; the pressure's on the gal.)

The problem here, as the engineer in me sees it, is that the options don't add, they multiply. I've got x shirts, y waistcoats, and z skirts -- that's not x+y+z, that's x*y*z to form a decision over, and that's not even counting the gals' problems with shoes! By comparison, the average bloke's formula of, "dress shoes, trousers, dress shirt, and tie if need be", check, sounds positively elementary!

But even the x*y*z*s is incomplete. You need to also add in e earrings, and n necklaces. Probably h handbags and a few other options to boot - like d hairdos. Not like traditional men's, where one might consider their wardrobe well endowed with less than half a dozen decent and visually distinct options. Well, I suppose if you can wear a tie that might increase the options somewhat.

If you look in the average man's closet you may have 3 maybe 4 options for pants, black, bark blue or beige, then shirt options basically the same. If you take a look in a woman's closet there will be many types of skirt with many different colours and patterns, same with the same shirts, that's why it takes a woman 4 times longer to get dressed to out than a man.

I don't know how many skirts I have. A couple weeks ago I donated a bag full to the less fortunate. I still have several dozen I don't wear any more, or bought and didn't like. These days I have pretty much settled on circle or double circle denim skirts of which I have 20 or more (and another on the way from ebay). I suppose I ought to sell off the surplus so someone else can enjoy them.

Have you tried x^y^z? That would produce a really big number! :D

With trousers for me it's pretty much down to colour. I try and match top colour to bottom but with a skirt then the material also comes into play .... and the style .... and the length and the ....

I am no longer sure how many skirts I own. I have been on a shopping binge lately and my collection has grown substantially, mostly in short casual skirts. I have one more en route for delivery and then I swear, I am staying off all my favorite shopping sites. I have recently given away a number of pairs of pants to the church thrift shop, having reduced my girth and moved down in waist size by several sizes, so all I can say for sure is that I believe I now own way more skirts than I do trousers, possibly including shorts.

I should be at the gym right now, but we had a big thunderstorm, and that gave me the excuse to stay home, so I am instead enjoying my second Pisco sour, so forgive me if my posts are rambling and border on incoherence.

Anyway, I received two new skirts today, both a bit shorter than I had expected, but still wearable. I am down to a female size 14 now, not bad considering where I started. One of today's arrivals is a 'Kastra' model corduroy skirt by Kuhl, the other a summery greenish skirt called 'Skirmish' by Horny Toad.

Oh, darn it! 6pm.com has another Horny Toad skirt now that I like, a cord skirt called 'Coriander'! No! No! I must resist!

Wish me strength... ~guzzles his Pisco sour and stumbles off to have supper~

We're certainly divided by a common language. I wonder what a Pisco sour is? Presumably it's alcoholic, but how strong?

Nice to be able to wave your credit card at skirt-flogging internet sites without restraint, a pleasure denied me, alas.
