The author sounds angry as if he's written the article in response to some negativity he's received to a skirted outing.

There was an episode of The Simpsons on TV last night ( Season 17 episode 19 Girls just want to have sums ). Principle Skinner makes a gaff about the difference in performance in maths/science may be due to innate differences between men and women and is fired and replaced by women’s educational expert, Melanie, who demands that the males and females are separated immediately, and the audience see females treated differently from now on. In an effort to defuse the situation Skinner states “please, believe me I understand the problems of women” as he laughs and stands to the side in a flowery, pink dress. He cites the argument that we have used many times on this site that when he sees clothes in a store he sees clothes and if he wears them they are called men's clothes and if women wear them they are called women's clothes. In a mocking fashion Nelson stands up and shouts “Ha, ha, Skinner’s a tranny." Lisa discovers that the girl's classes are more about boosting self-esteem and dresses as a boy to attend the boy's classes ( not no shock reaction to this - considered perfectly normal ). The really unfortunate thing about this is that MOH was busy with our new granddaughter who my son and his partner had brought round. So she didn't see it. Not sure if it would have really made any difference if she had seen it as her reaction is emotional rather than logical.

I know that Homer has worn a dress before when he gained weight to be classes as disabled and have a power plant console in his home. There are other examples during the series so the theme has been covered ( sensitively, of course, being The Simpsons ).

Banged my shin against a bed-rail but didn't pay much attention to it, then noticed it was infected and used Bacitracin and Neosporin+ on it for a couple weeks. Decided to get it looked at so I went to the VA hospital ER and they clucked their tongues and gave me some antibiotics to take for the next ten days.

I was wearing black knee socks and a black pleated knee-length skirt (which has a lot of people asking if I'm Scottish).

Went back this Monday, the 5th, in pretty much the same outfit for blood and urine samples; and again today with beige support hose and another black, pleated, knee-length skirt for intake physical.

All three visits got a few side-long glances from the older vets and children. Staff - from the janitorial staff and security through nursing and doctors were unfailingly polite and to the point. A lady doctor even called me by another guy's name a couple times, who also wore a pleated skirt.

I think we worry way too much about what other people think, and for the most part they are too busy to notice or simply don't care so long as we're not causing a problem. Being well-behaved and polite works wonders.
