Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.

Had a similar one on the bus back from Bristol last night, the classic 5 minute wonder. I wore a black Union kilt, black socks and dark green tights and sat opposite an old guy. He looked at me and mumbled something, then within 5 minutes fell asleep. Perhaps his poor brain couldn't take the extra thought load

What ! Not another character from "Robin Hood Men in Green Tights" ?
I guess I will feign the sleep mode least I be "Mugged" !
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

You do not need to be in a skirt, or on a bus, for that to happen. Irish police are investigating a murder where a homeless man in his sleeping bag was beaten up then set on fire- http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/ma ... 98534.html
Has anyone seen the December issue of National Geographic? The cover issue is about a man who wants to follow the prehistoric journey of humanity out of Africa (and seven years later, the guy hopes to have walked all the way to the end of South America). The cover photo and two pictures in the article show him wearing an African style wrap skirt/sarong.

Just had a look for that. A smallish version is shown here- http://press.nationalgeographic.com/201 ... mber-2013/
and there is another even smaller photo, although he is closer to the camera, further down on that page.
Will have a better look when I am again in a bookshop over the next few days.
The other day while going to lunch, sitting in the left-turn lane waiting for the light to change (at Broadway and 40th St. in Phoenix) across the street on the corner there was a guy in a white hoodie with the top up and a long white skirt that went down to his sneakers. He had a Bible in his hands and seemed to be speaking quite animatedly. I couldn't hear him but I expect that he was preaching to the air or anybody else who'd listen. He looked like a monk actually, just in different colors. I saw him a couple of times but he seems to have moved on, probably to a different corner.
Not to disparage him, I think it was a great thing that he was doing, just a bit unusual to see in Phoenix.
I saw an Indian (or similar fellow) briefly in Edinburgh near Fountain park for those who know it (there is a multiplex cinema, 10-pin bowling alley, fitness area and various restaurants there). He was waiting at a pedestrian crossing and was wearing a dark green full length flowing skirt, with a pale coloured top.
Nobody around him noticed from what I could see.

I was out for my usual Saturday afternoon walk (in a mid-calf length cotton skirt) when I thought I spotted another skirt wearing man about a block in front of me. Since my speed was a bit more than his, I slowly closed the gap. Turned out to be a guy in shorts with a light jacket removed and tied around his waist with the sleeves in front.

Back in my skirts in San Francisco
January 17th through the 20th, I attended New England's largest and most diverse science fiction convention http://www.arisia.org
I counted at least three gents wearing skirts.
And this was excluding myself, the half dozen transgendered types, an innumerable number of modern kilts, two gents in full on traditional highland dress, the Utilikilts booth, and one other vendor with a stock sport kilts next to their top hats & corsets.
I have seen a number of kilts-traditional and modern-at Norwescon. (Norwescon is a large regional convention in the Seattle area). I don't recall seeing men in other unbifurcated garments, however. Kingfish, would you please describe the skirts you saw?
The ones that I did notice were of the sweeping floor length variety not unlike what Carl has a penchant for. I did similar on Sunday, pairing a blue paisley broomstick skirt with a tropical shirt that did a surprisingly good job with the pattern transition at the hip. And the closest to trousers I came the whole weekend were some brown leggings on Saturday, and black stretch velvet leggings on Sunday...that is until I broke down and purchased the black watch plaid sport kilt, which went on right over that rig.
