I saw this man at Union Square in New York yesterday. Ironically, this is the same location where I wore a skirt 9 years ago on the day of the Million Skirted Men. He seemed confident and very masculine. In my opinion, this skirt is too loud, but I admired his presentation anyway.

A couple weeks ago, I did see a guy wearing a calf-length denim skirt in Marysville, WA. Was driving up to the Arlington, WA Pick-n-Pull wrecking yard at the time, so didn't have a chance to strike up a conversation or anything like that. Was wearing a knee-length denim skirt myself, which is what I usually wear when I hit the junkyards.

The JUST makes all the difference. A caricature of a woman is not exactly the same as a man who wants to be looked upon as a man who likes to wear a skirt.

From the window of my bus this morning, I saw two similar waiting on a corner for the signal to change. There's a Yemeni mosque several blocks away. I think I've heard that there is a Muslim holiday right around now.

Well yes, around here you also spot recent settlers from various countries in national dress. Mostly older generation on normal days, but youngsters on special days.

I missed it, but my wife saw him. He was wearing a full length black skirt. I'm thinking it may have been priestly robes under a coat. We have a number of older orders and orthodox groups around.

Brnswick Maine last evening. Knee length very full denim skirt, it looked odd with the white socks and red sneakers. Walking around down town. What was more interesting was to see that there was no reaction by the people around - maybe he's a regular in the neighborhood.

These skirt is pretty masculine, flowers are a symbol for male fertility and the length a symbol for male prowess. What a playboy.

Haven't posted in this section before, but it occurs to me I have 3 sightings to report from this year.

Sometime in the early summer, I saw a guy walking near my home in what appeared to be a black utilikilt, with a scruffy T shirt and some kind of black denim looking jacket. Very quick look, I was headed in the other direction at speed.

Later in the summer, very tall, thin guy, again T-shirt, black, as was the ankle length, lightweight, quite close cut skirt. Sandals. There had been some sort of LGBQ event going on that day, but some way off from where I saw this guy.

About a month ago, a customer came into my work, in another utilikilt, kahki this time. Had a sort of semi traditional scottish look, knee high socks, heavy shoes, almost boots, and a jacket that made a sort of suggestion of a formal Scottish one. Had a chance to talk to this guy, and I asked how cold he had, or would wear that rig. He had worn it out at -15C, and thought he could deal with quite a bit colder. That day was slightly above freezing.

Two at Phoenix Coyotes Ice hockey games.

One was on Halloween, a black watch tartan and a wool sash, no shirt. I asked him whether he wore a kilt very often and he said only on special occasions.

The other I've seen four times, wearing the team jersey over an olive utility kilt. I've tried several times to start a conversation but he's always rushing off somewhere.

I wore a kilt to a game myself last Saturday and it went fine. Mostly I was afraid of the cold but some heavy knee socks took care of that. Thirteen thousand people in the building, no negative comments, three interested conversations, and at least a dozen once-overs followed by direct looks and smiles. I did get a few silent WTF reactions in the men's room but oh well, that means it's working.

I always enjoy that kind of reaction; the gears have come off and the bran is spinning out of control while it tries to tune in to a new reality. Great fun to watch their faces

I've been seeing a man in skirts around here a lot this summer. ME! I almost never wear pants/jeans anymore. Other than a few evil eyes from a few people I've gotten no negative feedback at all. If you act no differently than when dressed in pants most people will hardly notice and won't say anything if they do. So, cmon guys, put your skirts on, pull up your big boy, (or girl) undies and march out the door.
