Hip belt, or "sporan" suggstions.
As mentioned in another thread, I'm thinking about a hip belt / sporan / work belt / hanging purse-wallet idea.
My current "plan" is to have something that fits around the hip, right where I like to have the skirts hang, that will accept a couple of different sizes of bag, or pouch. To be perfect, it has to sit smooth and snug, with a at least 2 attatchment points, and look fairly neat and smart. I'm almost certainly going to neend to have tham custom made, or fitted. Probaly need more than one colour/look. An easy, but not bulky clip, strap, or buckle is another desired feature, I want to be able to throw it on in a second, with no fussing.
Perfection is going to require sitting down with a good seamstress I think. In the meantime, have any of you found something like this? Or come up with your own designs? Please post your own pictures or links if you have.
Thanks in advance!

I keep looking for detachable cargo pockets that attach to and then hang from the belt. This would allow buying the pockets separately from the kilt, and using them in various color combinations with various kilts.
Courage, conviction, nerve, verve, dash, panache, guts, nuts, balls, gall, élan, stones, whatever. Get some and get skirted.

Is that not just what Howie sells to go with his 21st century kilts (TFCK) ?Caultron wrote:I keep looking for detachable cargo pockets that attach to and then hang from the belt.
Too bulky for my taste, but the idea is good.
TFCK is an off shoot of Geoffrey (taylor) kilts in Edinburgh.

A lot of folks have a disdain for the "Fanny Bag (Bum Bag)".
Commonly referred to as a poor mans sporran.
Doesn't have the banging drum rabbit feet tassels.
But if worn just like a sporran it can almost cover the male
bump or at least to a point make the bump a non event !
The Fanny Bag is not worn over the fanny but worn in front
just like a sporran.
There are several models of these - just the basic model with
a few zippered pouches and the more elaborate with cell
phone pouches and other accessory compartments.
The basic model can be had for a tenth the price of a sporran.
On the wild side one could design or replicate a "Batman"
Utility Belt with all the large compartments that whatever a
batman uses and carries about his business.
And as for "Pockets" - don't want them - don't need them !

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Those are a £150 addition to a £425 kilt, and they attach to additional buttons specially sew onto the like.couyalair wrote:Is that not just what Howie sells to go with his 21st century kilts (TFCK) ?Caultron wrote:I keep looking for detachable cargo pockets that attach to and then hang from the belt.

I'm thinking to $15-25 a pair for something that attaches to any belt.

If I remember correctly, replacement Utilikilt survival pockets are close to $20 or so each. They can be used separately as pockets on a belt. I've done that in the past when I needed extra storage capacity while wearing one of my traditional kilts.

And I thought a tailor made Scottish traditional kilt was dear at £299 for a 12 yard kilt!Caultron wrote:Those are a £150 addition to a £425 kilt, and they attach to additional buttons specially sew onto the like.couyalair wrote:Is that not just what Howie sells to go with his 21st century kilts (TFCK) ?Caultron wrote:I keep looking for detachable cargo pockets that attach to and then hang from the belt.
