So, two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions in a sesame seed barm cake. Is that it?
Courage, conviction, nerve, verve, dash, panache, guts, nuts, balls, gall, élan, stones, whatever. Get some and get skirted.

Try saying "McDonalds" without saying "muck"!

(With apologies to Mattesons!)

Confused, you will be!
Steve.
I thought tablet was the stuff, almost pure sugar, I think it sometimes gets called fudge. Very different from the toffee I know as toffee.

Is a bun a soft roll? or is one of them sweet?

Back to topic and this happened this very day.
First, some context. Our smokers area at work has been moved to a setting which is essentially open to the public. Some colleagues very unhappy, me, I don't especially care.
However, today, all alone, I was serene with my pipe and heard some chuckles and other assorted noises.
The chuckles came from a toddler, followed by a clucking Grandma.
Grandma and I struck up a convesation which was largely based on how everything to do with U.K. government services is going "online".
The point, if she noted the skirt, she did a damn good job of pretending not to.

I was stood near to an ATM waiting for an elderly gent to extract some cash. When he finished, he turned to me and very politely asked about my denim Union kilt. I hadn't noticed that he'd noticed, and he was just curious.
Usually I don't notice if people notice because I'm too busy playing 'spot the woman in a skirt'. The other day, out of the dozens of women seen during a walk into town, I saw 10.5 (one was wearing a long dress and trousers - that's just greedy  )

Here's an amusing exchange at a roadside eatery in Vermont; a couple ordered food just after I did. We began chatting, and I said I had had lunch in a diner in a nearby town. The fellow asked, with a grin on his face, if I had tried the Scottish pub in that town. I said "No, I have never been there, is it good?" He: "Yes it is, you should try it some day." I: "Did you ask because I'm wearing a skirt?" He, looking down at my LL Bean plain drab green skirt: "No! You know, I didn't even notice that!" His wife: "I didn't notice either!" They were clearly being truthful.

I mentioned the skirt just to see their reaction as it was a good opportunity to mention it. The conversation quickly went on to other topics.

p.s. -- when I bought the skirt at LL Bean (southern New Hampshire), I asked the clerk if she had other male skirt customers and she said one other guy she knew wore skirts.
When I heard about skirting, I jumped in with both feet!

I think most people do notice but just don't say anything. I seem to get plenty of responses to my kilts but very few to any skirt I wear.

The weather has been really warm here (mid 20s C, high 70s F). Wife and I went for a walk across the fields to Wells, she in a skirt and me in a sarong.
There was an icecream van parked by the moat in Wells, so we stopped to buy an icecream.
The lady in the van (who was wearing a dress) complemented me on the sarong, saying I'd got it right for the hot weather and that I looked good.
I said I couldn't abide trousers in this weather, to which she replied that she felt sorry for her customers who were still wearing suits and ties.

I'm curious...what is the origin of Charlie's sarongs?

Noticed? Maybe. Sure wasn't obvious. I've been getting good use out of my Mountain Hardwear ElKommando kilt this summer. Part of being invisible is being comfortable in yourself. My wife and I were in a local mountain town tourist district Saturday being tourists. She was in jeans and I in a kilt. We were enjoying ice cream cones when the wrangler working the horse drawn trolley (free to ride) approached and told us they were making the last trip through town for the day. We climbed on and took places in the middle of a bench, of which there were two facing in to the center. My only mild self consciousness was being sure to sit modestly. If anyone, male or female was paying attention to the kilt they sure didn't let it show. We enjoyed the ride and went on about our day.
You don't get to judge me by your standards. I have to judge me by mine.

It just occurred to me as I sit here that I don't often notice if others notice I'm wearing skirts or not. To be truthful, I've never been a follower of fashion and don't much care what people think of me or what I wear. My attitude is, "If you don't like how I look, don't look at me".

My wife and I spent the morning in the CBD of Hobart on Saturday. I had my plain green kilt on, a light shirt and leather jacket.. Plenty of people looked but no one commented at all. Even the lass that had to fit me with a new pair of shoes. I think that may have challenged her a bit :D
The thing that I really noticed though was all the fashion clones...male and female all in their blue jeans, dark tops and black puffer jackets as it is mid winter down here. Hardly any colour except black to be seen.
very sad really, I just hope that colour does not reflect the way people feel about themselves. it did confirm though that people are more comfortable hiding amongst others that look the same rather than standing out and showing their personality.

I don't own much black except for a couple pair of pants. I bought a long garnet overcoat last northern hemisphere winter exactly to stand out. I received a lot of smiles and compliments wearing it around town. Personally, I think the all black look is just lazy; though it can look good on the right blonde or redheaded woman. :)

I was in the checkout line at Aldi (German supermarket chain here in Queensland) and was in conversation with a 92 year old Englishman ahead and a 30 something ( a guess as she told me her father was my age) housewife following. I was wearing a blue short sleeved shirt over a cream knee length LL Bean skirt. Nobody seemed to care one bit, as the conversation was on the "good old days" :)
