Re: Skirt Designs..
Big pockets, make no bones, are useful, but if one overloads them then the overall line of the way the skirt hangs is likely to be spoilt.Colin wrote:Big pockets are always useful.
Interestingly, I've been out of skirts at work for a couple of weeks (the atmosphere there having gone toxic) and find that I still frequently find myself carrying my bag to hold stuff in that would otherwise go into trouser-pockets. Perhaps I'm beginning to miss pockets less and less as time goes by.

Re: Skirt Designs..
This depends quite a bit on the skirt's material and form and the man's physique, all of which determines how the skirt drapes and moves. Some skirts do not conceal the bulge much at all, for example a very lightweight skirt on a slender man.Nolyn wrote:Though I am not necessarily disagreeing with this statement, I think the advantage of skirts is that they hide body bulges and lines for a more attractive look. Many times I have been walking behind someone and thought, 'I wish this person would hide her/his butt cracked pants with a skirt.' The same goes for the front of a person: the skirt hides the crotch. So, I would rather see minimal to no male bulge and the skirt can still do that.
And, of course, it will usually (not not always) depend on whether you're going commando or not! Undies can certainly minimize the bulge.
When I heard about skirting, I jumped in with both feet!

if i were wearing a skirt for work i would like to wear a calf length pencil skirt with zip at side and vent at rear, with warm suit jacket with pockets. not strictly practical , so try calf length a line skirt with suit jacket with custom made soft sporan on waist belt, not chain. keeps your goody bag higher on your waist.
for the big spender, see 21 century kilt suits , this is the plain or tweed derivation of the kiltmakers latest male fashion.
if i wanted to make this practical i might move back towards the previously mentioned freedom of the A line skirt, without five to eight yards of kilt pleats.
for pracical shop floor work , not strictly manual ,knee to calf length denim , under a dust coat .

previous to my last, the soft belted sporan, bit like a big cabbies leather bag, would do away with troublesome pockets and creat modesty with our male bulge. the bag is worn with belt. not sporan chains.
for years i have carried a "male" shoulder bag, a mini back pack with one shoulder strap.worn on the shoulder or like a bandolier.
did not really like the bum bag , did not hang well for the amount of junk i may carry. emptied it out in a public library counter one day;................ days supply of fruit ... a gps navigator and a multi knife.
good leather bag, will carry lots of gear ....... GOOD FASHION ITEM to wear at work.
see the junk skirted lady conductors carry on british trains
