Re: denim skirt
I like all those skirts, they are the sort of skirt I prefer, from below the knee to ankle length. My denim skirts have all either been made to order by Midas skirts, or bought from denimskirts.com. With a 44" waist I have had variable results when buying from Ebay.

Re: denim skirt
Ebay can indeed be a real problem if you do not ask and get the measurements.
It is imperative that the buyer and seller be on the same page in using the inch
or metric scale.
Make sure you have an agreement for the return or exchange of the item and
if not double check all your facts and figures before committing to a bid.
I have found sometimes it works to have a small ruler to lay up against the item
as illustrated and when given 1 set of measurements it is possible to interpolate
and get the missing one.
Then comes the factor of the type of material - - -
One thing to remember is the construction of the garmet (fabric) - is it rigid like
a canvas skirt or flexible/stretchable like a athletic skirt.
If rigid then there is not much room for error - maybe plus or minus an inch with
older aging material being best.
If constructed of stretchy fabric then the factor can be pushed a great deal further.
With modern stretch and sew fabrics and stitching it is not unusual that when an
item is stated as a 36 inch to get maybe a 40 or a tad more. The skirt may not be
attractive looking stretched to it limits but when worn with other combinations of
clothing may not be so bad.
If the length and waist of a skirt is in proportion then great - when the hem length
gets shorter care must be taken to prevent the elephant wearing a tutu effect.
Heavy set and plus size folks need to pay attention to this but even then there
are fashionable limits for everyone.
Fortunately the forum has not had examples of members wearing outsized clothing.
In closing I resemble that remark - takes one to know one !

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Ebay is indeed a great source for stuff (I've sold stuff for 8 years). The above is good advice. To summarize:r.m.anderson wrote:Ebay can indeed be a real problem if you do not ask and get the measurements.

-- Read the listing carefully, especially description and return policy.
-- Note seller's feedback rating and Detailed Seller Ratings (click on feedback number).
-- Ask Seller a Question about any issues, especially if the description and measurements are poorly worded.
-- No matter what the return policy, if item is "Not as Described" you have a legitimate reason to file a complaint, and eBay and Paypal have channels that protect the buyer in such cases and enable a refund.
Personally, I think it's more fun to try skirts on in stores, but I have bought clothes on eBay.
When I heard about skirting, I jumped in with both feet!
Re: denim skirt
I used to have a pair of boots just like those strings and all. Nice skirt too.

Re: denim skirt
Expressing diappointment at all the denim skirts I have found off the peg to date, I ordered one from a bespoke tailor who produced one to my personal design.
It arrived just yesterday and I haven't had time to photograph it on yet. It has a big pockets & a fly front, is A-line just 20 inches long (right for me) and has black inserts above the pockets and in the box pleats, of which there are seven in all.
Not wishing to pretend they're shorts or similar I went for a broad panel at rear to sit down on.

Re: denim skirt
That's a nice-looking skirt there, Tom. It'll be interesting to see how it fits, looks, and works on.
