Shorts to skirt
Shorts to skirt
If you take a pair of shorts and turn them into a skirt then it is now a skirt...correct?? then what if you turn a skirt into shorts.would it still now be shorts or would it still be a skirt???
Re: Shorts to skirt
If you turn shorts into a skirt then yes, by definition, they've become a skirt. Otherwise, you haven't successfully converted them.
And if you turn a skirt into shorts then yes, by definition, you've turned it into shorts. Otherwise, the conversion failed.
What's the objective here? To convince yourself (or others) that youre actually wearing un-bifurcated shorts when, in fact, they've become a skirt? Or to find a way of 'generating new, possibly gender-neutral fashions? To wear a skirt without cross-dressing? Something else?

Courage, conviction, nerve, verve, dash, panache, guts, nuts, balls, gall, élan, stones, whatever. Get some and get skirted.

Re: Shorts to skirt
My point being is that whatever it is a skirt or shorts they do basically the same thing. just one has leg openings and the other does not. why should there be an issue between the two. its the same fabric sewn in a different configuration.
its all society of the world and its view of the difference.

Re: Shorts to skirt
Without doubt, modern societies use different styles of clothes to differentiate the sexes.
I guess there's nothing inate those styles and distictions; they do, after all change over time. But the process of such change is often controversial, as with:
In my experience, though, at least in the US, a man wearing a skirt or kilt doesnt really generate that much controversy. I mean, sure, people are going to notice that you're dressed outside the norm, but that never escalates to anger, upset, personal attacks, aggression, or humiliation. So if you're afraid of that, it's in your head, not theirs. But of course, that doesn't make your feelings any less real.

• Women wearing pants
• Men wearing earrings
• Women wearing business suits
• (and I bet you knew this was coming) Men wearing skirts.

FWIW, here's the url of a photo group I moderate on Flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/2192039@N22/
To see this you'll need to get a free Flickr account (if you dont already have one) and then join the group. But in there you'll find over 950 photos of men wearing skirts and kilts in public. So while men wearing skirts or kilts might still be on the fringe, it may be a larger fringe than you thought.
If that's not enough, here are some more Flickr groups promoting men in skirts or kilts. Some are large, some small. You can probably view many of them without a Flickr account. I'm sure you'll find some familiar names and faces.

Re: Shorts to skirt
This is something that I've suspected for quite some time now, and it's good to see it coming to the fore albeit in different settings and with differing contact mechanisms.Caultron wrote:[... I'm hoping that it's just a matter of time before it just becomes normal to see guys in something other than tr*users!

Re: Shorts to skirt
"Conversion" is not the issue, appearance is.
I can buy a skirt or a pair of shorts for a relatively small sum, I'm not too proud for charity or goodwill shopping.
If I want to apppear in shorts or a skirt, I will do exactly that.
Take this, "is that a skirt you're wearing?".
Answer, "no it's a pair of converted mens' shorts"
My take, no, it's a skirt, pure and simple. The "shorts" ceased to exist at the first cut.
Obviously, the same applies in reverse, the skirt ceases at the first stitch.
More importantly, wear what you are comfortable with where you are comfortable to be seen until you are ready to go further.
Nobody can do anything more.
Steve.

I would have preferred: "YES, in fact it's a pair of men's shorts converted into a skirt."STEVIE wrote: "is that a skirt you're wearing?".

When I heard about skirting, I jumped in with both feet!
