Trouble is, they never seem to get beyond the cat walk. There are a few skirts there that I'd like to wear, but where do you find a retail outlet? Roll on the day when I can walk into Marks & Sparks or British Home Stores (or even a gents outfitters) and get measured for a skirt!

I'd say that designers are the last people to look for if we have any hope of skirts going mainstream. Producing outrageous and impractical garments may be fun, or just and ego-trip for the designer, but, a has been said over and over again, they'll never been seen on the street.
The only hope is that some designer will sew his label on a plain simple denim (or similar) skirt, put a huge price on it and let the snobs fight their way to the counter to be first with an overpriced labeled garment. Then others will copy and before long, plain simple denim (or similar) skirts will available (made in the far east) in cheap and cheerful shops at reasonable prices.

Meanwhile, who (man or woman) wants to go blindfold and look like a wedding cake?

Charlie, can you get measured for anything in M&S or BHS? You don't see staff wandering round with tape measures.

But I did spot a nice knee-length denim skirt in BHS the other day, so I bought it. £15 - not bad. It comes in a "wide" range of colours you might like: black, grey, navy blue, light blue. High fashion - who needs it?

That blindfolded ambulatory "wedding cake", as Martin so aptly put it, is totally hideous. The others don't do anything for me either. The minis, with leggings, are close (but not quite) to what some on this forum are comfortable with, but nothing there is, in any way, what would tempt an ordinary bloke to consider a skirt as an option. When so called fashion designers decide to stop designing while on their drug of choice, something sensible may come out.

As for the wide range of colours, a veritable rainbow as has been mentioned on another thread. At least they're all 'masculine' colours

Nope, those colours are drab and dull, not masculine at all. No powerfull bubblegum pink, no majestic purple. Just kidding, there is no such thing as masculine colours. You should pay the site pink is for boys a visit.

Pink is for boys, eh? I can think of two sites that might refer to off the top of my head. Did you mean https://pinkisforboys.wordpress.com/, http://www.pinkisforboys.org/, or another site altogether?

That said, both sites may be of interest to readers here, and, especially if you are west of the Atlantic, the book the second is dedicated to, Pink is for Boys, may be of use if you are dealing with folk complaining about your colour choice.
