Is there some purpose to the flash mob or is it just going to be a bunch of people jumping on a bandwagon for no better purpose than a bit of a laugh? If it is the latter, then I suspect most will play it for fun and it will probably end up looking more like a rugby club in drag; that will certainly not encourage anyone to see a skirt as a viable option for everyday wear for men.

Exactly my reaction, Ian.
I'm quite sure there will be mass of men trying to look funny (the type that think that you can't be skirted without wig, high heels and a couple of balloons on your chest) and not one aiming to look weel-dressed, elegant or simly normal.

Then don't go and let the jokers perpetuate the notion. Or, if you care, show up in one of your usual skirted rigs and look normal. If it gets out of hand, you can always leave, or, you might be pleasantly surprised.

On Friday, I was in Hackney, in London, picking up a sampler. While wearing my knee lengh cargo denim skirt. During the whole Gosport - Hackney - Glasgow - home journey including quite a few service stations and a bit of shopping, I saw no odd looks or comments. I think people see what their brain expects, so if they do look they are more likely to think 'shorts'. It is good that long shorts (shoirt longs?) are in fashion.
The week before, I went out to my boat, while in the same skirt. Itwasn't easy or comfortable getting in and out of the inflatable tender in that sort of skirt. it ended up nearly round my waist! Not dignified!
Some practice needed in moving around the tender, starting the tender and getting positioned to drive the thing while not drowning but preserving my modesty. I wouldn't want to do that with someone else in the boat!

In my dreams! Still, back out to the boat wearing a similar skirt today, managed the tender much better today, last time was in a Midas jeans skirt which has more flair, today was in the cargo skirt. Minor repair completed to my boat (bilge pump) then a nice sail. A bit cold though so changed into a Macabi part way through to take the wind off my legs. Not a bad day, work tomorrow, humph!

We don’t need any more stupid publicity that makes fun of men in woman’s clothing, rather, if this is about promoting MEN’S SKIRTS then it could be a great thing. Sadly, I think this is not going to be the kind of flash mob won’t be proud of.

Worry not, this will become completely natural before long. I found out that I can jump from moving boat to moving dock quite handily in my long Macabi -- and I found out "the hard way" by doing it three times in one day (see another thread for all the lurid details).

Minor? The problem with a rising waterline inside the vessel means that the waterline outside the vessel lowers -- and when the two meet....

Indeed we don't need any more of the "same old, same old" of "men in women's clothing". However, the mantle is ours to take up -- even in the face of overwhelming odds -- to show that skirts work well on men and should be so accepted. If we try to fade into the woodwork then our message will never get out. Imagine, if you can, the potential of a real bloke in a skirt getting an on-air bit on the telly stating, cogently, his opinion on the matter. If he's not there in the first place he'll never even get the chance.

If you're not "out there" in public you're not an ambassador.

Now I know a Greek by the name of Archimedes who wouldn't describe it quite like that. He'd argue that the waterline outside also rises, stays ahead of the waterline inside by the displacement of the boat and therefore will cross the decks ahead of the water inside.
Meanwhile the boat has an appiontment with a certain Davy Jones in his locker, unless of course B&B intervenes with a perfectly functioning bilge pump, in which case all will be rapidly restored to normal and he won't get his Macabi wet.
