Wolf whistle!

Post by skirtingtoday »

Walked back to my parked car last night from work (around 5:15 - some 20 minute walk) wearing my 21" khaki cargo skirt and black tights. A red car passed me going slowly and the fellow, around 20-25 years old, wound down the window and gave me a wolf whistle.

Attitudes like that put me right off wearing skirts but as it is just about the only negative response I have had, I have dismissed it.

Thinking about it afterwards, wasn't sure if I should be offended or flattered! :D 8)

Last time I had a wolf whistle I suggested the whistler went to the White Blackbird (a local pub popular with the gay community) as he should be able to find a boyfriend there. His mates thought it was funny; I'm not sure he did. :D

Have fun,

I will - just checked out on Google that an Edinburgh gay bar of note and long standing is Frenchies.

Thanks for the tip! (not that I'll be attending there of course - just in case of another repeat whistle!)

A couple of years ago I heard some yelps from a car full of yobs that I had just passed (while wearing a long wrap skirt as I recall). Not sure if it was for me or a couple of young women who were across the street. I just kept on walking toward home.

Last night walking back to my car in an underground park a heard a huge wolf whistle.

Turned to look and there was a lady, window would down, huge smile and a big wave and finally a thumbs up!
No idea who she was but boy did she make me feel good :D

My comment:

"That was No Lady!" but glad you had your moment of fame ! LOL!

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

It must have been the young ladies methinks ... I find that I am mostly ignored.

Btw I was in SF last year for 12 days - say a couple of fellows in skirts. One was on the ferry going to Alcatraz (Utilikilt) and the other near a Gay Pride march (thin grey silk skirt which had a few red roses on it. Both looked great!

(There were quite a few others cross-dressed men in "pantomime dame" style as well... nuff said!)

Confidence boosts are always nice. I got a pleasant compliment of, "Nice skirt!" this afternoon from a young woman who works at the local gas/petrol station. Things like that make one smile and feel good.

Don't let people discourage you. All sorts of comments may come. Many are encouraging, so keep wearing what you have chosen, regardless.

I certainly wouldn't let an odd disparaging remark or sarcastic wolf whistle change my views or alter my clothes style. Had on my 19" M&S skirt today (without tights! temp 12deg C) and saw nobody looking round.

I have had other compliments with my 13" denim mini-skirt. One 20-year old woman said "WOW! Man in a skirt! Cool!" and gave a thumbs up and another in mid-30's said that I had better legs than her in a skirt (and that despite the hairy legs!). Both occasions were in a charity walk for Breast cancer at Scone Palace (called Pink Ribbon Walk so everyone gets a pink T-Shirt to wear).

I was "snapped" by the Woman and Home magazine as well and am on the Internet - pics 56 and 63 show yours truly whilst pic 43 shows another large-ish guy in a pink tutu (with his wife)!

Sadly my only wolf whistles so far were from some men who I reckon may only have heard about my skirts the previous day (after an acquaintance we have in common had seen me skirted). I was wearing trousers at the time, and the whistling was interspersed with remarks like "where is your skirt today?" I don't think they realised that they were mistaking me for someone else - someone who cares about their opinions!
Keep on skirting,

Got another wolf whistle today - I had on my 20" denim skirt with black tights at the time. A couple of blokes passed me and when they were a step or two away, I heard one of them give a low wolf whistle.

I didn't look back at them but had a smile to myself.

Take it as a compliment, why not?
Noticed, acknowledged, who knows that you may not have made a convert?
I had some gently ribald comments from some football fans on Sunday. I thanked them, we went along.

Funny that this thread should have come back today, I had my first Wolf Whistle this last Saturday. Came from some city workers taking a smoke break from the other side of the street. I just gave them a quick grin and didn't break stride.

I had the equivalent of a wolf whistle last night at work. A lady was struggling to get up after bending for something on a low shelf and I commented that even though I consider myself quite agile for 61 even I sometimes find getting up a struggle. She commented that I didn't look 61 and would have put me in my early 50's like her. Of course I returned the compliment and said that she didn't look 50. I then said that I was always unconventional and sometimes wore a skirt and she reacted positively to that and finally said, "Well, keep on keeping on".
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.
