Creative Writing - Help Please
Re: Creative Writing - Help Please
Hi Charlotte,
You are very articulate and I would expect that your essay assignment will be a big success. I, for one, would love to see the finished work if it is acceptable and possible for you to post it on site.
I tried on a skirt as a boy and was immediately hooked. I recall the feeling of freedom around my legs and the fact that this was a garment which moved in harmony with my own movements and yet with a degree of independence. I suppose this accounts for the feeling of vulnerability which has been mentioned before in this thread and which I can identify with. I have always liked wearing fairly full skirts in a strong breeze, where this sensation is at its most noticable.
I don’t really expect understanding of my skirt wearing, but acceptance would be nice.

Charlotte, I hope this gets to you in time.
I've noticed two phenomena when wearing a skirt publicly:
First, I've noticed a sense of empowerment. The reaction of 99.9987% of the people I encounter is one of absolutely fascination! they seem to "get it", and LIKE what they see. They often give me approving glances, and I invariably seem to get much better service than I otherwise would. Only one man has stopped me and engaged me in a conversation on the concept, but many times I've asked people about the concept and conducted a "guided tour" thru the various websites (at a time when I was NOT wearng a skirt) and the result was INVARIABLY one of fascinated delight!
The second phenomenon I've observed is how EASY it is to actually FORGET you're wearing a skirt! This seems almost impossible to imagine, and no one else from this community seems to have reported on it, but it is a fact!
Good luck with your essay!

Hi there Charlotte.
What does it feel like for a boy/man to wear a skirt for the first time? Well, for me personally, it was initially one of curiousity before i got into the skirt but from what I can remember, the "physical sensation" was one of immense comfort and as for the "emotional reaction" it was one of immense relief. I remember feeling completely comfortable wearing a skirt for the first time. What I noticed was that it was really interesting to look down and see a skirt on my body instead of a pair of trousers. Hope that helps.

It's been quite a while now, so I would surmise that the assignment was contemplated, executed, and handed in for grading -- so how was it judged? Based on composition seen here, I'd be rather surprised if it was a flop, but an authoritative answer would be interesting to read.
I can't be the only curious one...

I think the last time Charlotte said anything on this site was at least 5 months ago. Her epistle is probably finished, turned in, graded, and she's into at least 3 or 4 new epistles on other subjects by now.

That's quite likely. However, good writing skills are at a stroke both incredibly important and, at the same time, not well celebrated. So, it falls to the audience -- of any ilk -- to encourage such skills.Since1982 wrote:I think the last time Charlotte said anything on this site was at least 5 months ago. At the moment, Charlotte is working her way through "formal education", which is where any and every notion of individual thought or dollop of creativity is mercilessly suppressed. I wish her the best in enduring it, getting good marks (they do go on "your permanent school record", after all), and learning enough of the basic mechanics to allow creativity and individuality to flourish someday in her work. It'll be a long road; it took me a good quarter of a century to undo the damage done to my writing in secondary school. It is my hope that Charlotte overcomes that more quickly than it took me.
So, celebrate good writers -- and good writing -- because without them you wouldn't have {insert favourite author here} or {insert most hated author here}. (As an aside, I am relieved that my least favourite writers have all had the common decency to die; a number of my favourites are still alive, but only for a while longer. Time is a great teacher, but she kills all her students.) Without writing -- good writing -- we would be immeasurably poorer as a species.

I agree, Carl, but commenting to help Charlotte in these posts is sort of useless if she doesn't read them. Wouldn't it seem like a better idea to send any suggestions one has to her in E-Mail form?
