Re: Tell us about your most recent skirt / kilt purchase...
Since this my first post I hope it all works out.
I was a WalMart and found a closeout rack that had straight khaki above the knee skirts in several colors. that were only $3.00 I had to buy one of each color. Since i wear a skirt 90% of the time I have an extensive collection (my wife says my closet is better than hers). I usually watch for sales in the juniors department. The only problem is the consistancy in sizes between manufacturers.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago. If the rain lets up and the sun comes out it may get it's first daytime public outing on Saturday.

Very fun and comfortable skirt. Elastic waist and about high ankle length on my 5'9" frame. Store says it is 34.5" in regular or 32" in petite.

That is a great looking skirt. I think its ideal for wear on a guy in SF. What store did you find that skirt?

Ooooooh, pretty. I have yet to add a yellow skirt to my wardrobe, but it will only be a matter of time. This week's purchases included a brown polyester skirt with a lace trim and yet another cute pink skirt

Be Bold. Be Skirted.

I believe Wintersilks is mostly an internet/catalog operation. After poking around their site I found that they apparently have a retail store in Madison, Wisconsin. You should be able to order directly from the link I posted. A warning, their shipping charges are a bit high.luvtoskirt wrote:That is a great looking skirt. I found 2 leather skirts at the Goodwill store the other day. One is smooth leather, the other has a snakeskin pattern. Both fully lined, above the knee in length, and all for $10.00.

My most recent purchase which arrived today, is a Hunter Green Camo kit from Union Kilts in Cheshire UK. I had looked at it on their website a few time previously, but what lead me to make the purchase now was the sale price of £49.99 as opposed to to £76.99. Having seen it I don't reckon that the full price is unreasonable. I've just tried it on so far, but it fits nicely, and I'm looking forward to wearing it on a walk.

Re: Tell us about your most recent skirt / kilt purchase...
I bought about a dozen stone washed denim, and a dozen and a half mixed black, white and khaki cotton twill mid calf A-line, 5 pockets, cargo style skirts in a discontinuation of line sale at Roaman's online for $6.00 each in size 34. So I've not even opened the pkg on any but one since then. I'm pretty well skirted to the brim at this time. Of course if I saw something that caught my fancy.......
Ain't skirting soooo much more fun than trousering???

Can't say I've bought any skirts or kilts in a long time. The local Goodwill shops (a chain of charity shops) have reduced their skirt collection to almost nothing, and it's always been hard even for women to find anything that isn't hideous in the shops.
I've almost finished sewing up another skirt, but you asked about purchases.
(If you'd asked about fabric which could be made into skirt, well I've bought some nice stuff lately.)

After shopping and running errands in the morning, I got home just before noon. I changed into my copy of this skirt (mine is in True Navy) and a red fleece top. Ate lunch and listened to my favorite radio program until the end and then set off. The sun was out and it was warm on the sunny side of the street; so I walked two and a half miles to my afternoon manicure appointment. I had advised the owner of the shop I would show up skirted someday. She told me she didn't care so neither she nor her employees were surprised. After my manicure, I walked a couple of blocks up a busy shopping street to get myself a pastry to enjoy with my afternoon tea. Then walked home stopping at my barber shop to make an appointment for next Saturday.
Other than one car full of 20something yahoos whooping as I crossed in front of them while they were stopped at a red light, absolutely no verbal comments at all. And the yahoos may have been whooping at something else since they continued for some time after I was out of their sight. It could have been the young woman across the street in the short skirt.

20 something yahoos have an entirely different mindset than you or I do. No doubt in my mind. It's sort of a "I can laugh louder and act stupider (if stupider is even a word, ever since "my bad" became a phrase, I accept everything I hear as a word) than you can, mentality...

...feel free to tell us about new skirts whatever the source. (Sorry, I did not think hard enough when starting the thread or I would have included self made items. I guess that's a consequence of my having ten left thumbs and hence being totally incompetent with a needle and thread).
Have fun,
Ian.

Hi,
Just received two new skirts from Style J Denim skirts.
Trying on one of them now, a "Church lady long jeans skirt", As in an ankle length denim skirt with fly, use-able pockets and one of those Christian fish thing designs on one of the back pockets.
I like it, it is well comfortable and well made from decent material.
I had a man come to the door to sell me a photo of my hoose from the air, first time I have answered the door in a skirt. That got the heart beating faster. Still, nothing said and I didn't waste money on the photo.
Still got the other skirt to try, a long "classic cargo khaki denim", I think it will be very similar apart from the colour and the fish on the pocket!
I will do the photo thing at some stage when the weather picks up a bit, I have a few to do now.
