Re: Tartan school skirts
I never said you were Big Wave, sorry you took that from what I said. However, the "unisex" part implied anything goes. In the original thread, I cited a local guy wearing what was clearly a Robert Gordon's College uniform skirt. His surname may well have been Gordon and had it been a full...

Re: Tartan school skirts
When I think about tartan school skirts, THIS immediately comes to mind....Japanese schoolgirls! I don't think even I could pull off that look and be taken seriously, nor would I try either! If the photo was cropped so their heads weren't visible, then they could easily be males - tartan skir...

Re: went out in a dress
Just had a quick confab with Prof.Google. Subject "1940s Siren Suit", and an interesting result. No sign of our illustrious leader, but lots of ladies in quite fetching jump suits which would appear perfectly on trend today. Only when I specified men, did Churchill's version appear. So the...

Re: Boys Ban From Wearing Jeans by School
Mr S,
Sorry, you misunderstand me.
I was bullied at school for wearing glasses, not here at the cafe.
I would never say that I enjoyed my schooldays.
A dress code that includes jeans, I really see how that creates more problems than it will ever solve.
Steve.

Re: History is full of Men in Skirts
Gods, that woman has one annoying voice, but she makes a point. Historically, in different periods and cultures, skirts and dresses as we know them now were not "woman's wear". Most of the modern problem with men in skirts is that they are. Try the concept of human wear with lots of people...

Re: Boys Ban From Wearing Jeans by School
Mr S, We mentioned eye glasses/spectacles in another thread, I got my share of bullying for that. Had jeans been the accepted wear for school and I wore trousers, that also would have made me a target. The consequences of wearing a skirt, worse, very very bad! Kids, especially boys are pack animals,...

Re: Boys Ban From Wearing Jeans by School
I would never have been allowed to wear jeans at school, but girls had to wear skirts.
We would have been sent home to change and there would have been punishment, corporal for boys and academic for girls.

Re: Mississipi School Discriminate Transgender Girl
Like it or not - we don’t all get “our own truth”. There is but one truth in every conversation. Present however you want, live as you wish, but don’t expect me to accept who you pretend to be if you couldn’t accept who you are. I am happy to say that I don't really give a damn about what you choos...

Re: Mississipi School Discriminate Transgender Girl
I’ve been here a long time (this forum) and very much appreciate one’s ability to dress as one chooses; however, it’s incredibly irresponsible for adults to participate in this madness. This is not a transgender girl - this is a boy. The biology is quite simple. Lying to our youth is dangerous. Who...

Re: Mississipi School Discriminate Transgender Girl
There was a recent national news story about a boy commit suicide after being receiving constant bulling over his eyewear. This is another common trauma a child face. This type of bulling being happening over the last 70 years and counting. I was five years old when I got spectacles/eye glasses. Ne...

Re: Mississipi School Discriminate Transgender Girl
When it comes to children, their official name should be chosen or approved by their parents. Imagine if a child decided to call himself "Hitler" or "Dracula". I have known of names officially chosen and given the parental stamp of approval which are worse than that Stu. EG Moon...

Re: Mississipi School Discriminate Transgender Girl
Stevie/Mouse, how about being Governors in Secondary Schools? Isnt that where the help is needed more? No school governors in Scotland BM and I wouldn't go for it anyway. My reaction here was largely based on the comments about a kid making "demands". "Seeking permission" means ...

Re: Trousers, Women have more....
Are we men just boring, or do we just have no imagination? I was exercising that "imagination" at 5 years old, and look at the trouble it caused. Men aren't boring, but, even now, boys are not encouraged to explore life in the ways that girls are. Girls can be positively tomboyish, ever h...
