This is a fairly good argument for me learning to make skirts - those look so brilliant and you hardly ever see anything like that in the shops!

That looks gorgeous. Ankle length skirts are definitely my favourite (can't wait to wear one at some point
) and the Coffee Stripe looks absolutely wonderful.

If you're planning on "making the jump" into skirts, you might as well mention the fact to your parents (unless they're completely bereft of clue) because it will leak back to them from university that you're experimenting with (or embracing!) "alternate attire". It may be easie...

What are your experiences as far as trying on skirts in clothes shops goes? Do most clothes shops allow men to try on skirts?
