Re: Going to sew my own kilt, any suggestions before I start?
It's also worth having a look at http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/x_kilt_sew_your_own-t20085/index.html . It doesn't look like the directions have been updated to include cargo pockets yet, so you'll probably need to add those on your own. I haven't tried it yet, but plan to at some stage. Edit: I...

Re: Is SkirtCafe Going "Femme"?
While the "femme" aspects are not my path, I don't think there should be any kind of split. There will always be some overlap, so it would make it difficult for those users. But I do agree that a separate section could be useful. (Split into multiple boards if necessary)

Re: Skirt Design Resources
Another comment that a pattern will be easiest, but if you want to have a look at the design of skirts try having a look at http://www.vintagesewing.info/1940s/42-mpd/mpd-08.html . It's a whole chapter from a book on designing skirts, but the book was from 1940, so you won't get information about mo...

Re: Clicking on links in threads
Another method for opening in a new tab that works well for both firefox and internet explorer is to click with the middle mouse button (or scroll wheel). I use it so often I don't even notice myself doing it.

How about Skirtopia.
The place where everyone regardless of age or sex can where any style of skirt, dress, shorts or pants without any fear of aspersion.

It's great you being about to support and encourage your man. My first experience in public was a sarong while on holiday. It even happened because my wife put all of my shorts in the wash then asked me to do a bit of shopping for her. Although having had that experience, I'd still suggest encourage...

Welcome along to you and your lurking partner. :) I'd just like to say something about children around men in skirts. One of the great things about children is that they don't come with all of our preconceptions. Despite the fact that my three year old daughter has picked up from somewhere that 'boy...

To those who suggested a sarong, I gave it a try while on holiday. It also pushed my normal boundaries by being a bright orange when I normally wear very dark colours. I started by wearing it to the beach, and around the house a bit. Then on the way to the beach one day I went in to a shop wearing i...

Starting with a pattern is probably a very good idea. Having said that, in my opinion it would also be well worthwhile reading something about patten drafting so you can see where the shapes and sizes come from. I've found a site that appears to have good instructions for drafting a skirt pattern fr...

Another really good reason is design. A skirt has a bigger area for designs, images, and so on. You reminded me of a really bad example of this that I've seen on the web. http://www.boreme.com/boreme/funny-2003/i_skirt-p1.php Okay, so it's not real... My reason. Why would I want to look exact...

Wearing free fashion ( mostly women's fashions also means that i am constantly looking for other combinations than I have now. That was unimaginable when I was only wearing men's fashion. ( but that does have advantages, it is inexpensive, easy to choose from a small garderobe, and dresses up fast....

What am I REALLY wanting.
I posted last night, that I currently have issues I'm trying to resolve. While reading through an old thread, I came across this that I wanted to discuss a bit further. Speaking for myself, to the extent I think about it, I consider myself male, and don't want to be mistaken for female. But I like w...

I'm in Ballarat, so we're known more for cold weather. But in fact the Summer's still get much too hot for my liking. As for brown. Certainly is. Even lake Lake Wendouree at the centre of town is dry and brown despite drinking water from the small reserves being diverted to it before last Summer. I'...
