Seeing the posts about "What are we, movement, or what ever" I was looking around some Fashion areas. Seen a couple of the Runway Fashion things with skirted men - though Runway Fashion is nowhere near real peoples idea of clothing. I did find a spot where maybe a few well placed comments may aide in the overall proccess of change and/or understanding. As has been for years and will be for many more the rich and pretty do follow the guides of these fashion runways like the Bible.

I looked at the 'What did u [sic] wear today?' thread. Our 'What did you wear?' thread is much more interesting - theirs is just a list of trousers

I was thinking that since the Fashion Elite are active to these sites and have a forum, that would imply they are willing to discuss mens fashions and possibly be open to the facts that one of the Fashion Freedom "fighters" might wish to post inside the forum.
To discuss the skirt wearing of men inside this (Skirt Cafe) forum alone is a self impossed stagnating activity. As many have posted in here in the past, the public view and alteration of thought for men in skirts is a common goal. SO, therefore reaching out to the international fashion community, to enclude the designers, is/should be a place that would need to see the wishes of the men they create clothing for. When (as with the listed links) a forum is established this would imply they wish to recieve some sort of feed back or ideas from those that otherwise do not have a voice.
I, am not the best to articulate nor have the proper time to get fully vested in such doings however i felt that in finding this site, someone here may have the chance for the voices to be heard.
Sorry if I presumed too much for here, seems to me that preaching to the chior is like beating a dead horse - it only toughens the meat but it spoils on the road side doing no good to the starving.

Rubbish! There are invariably far more 'visitors' (I don't like the term "lurkers"!) to the site than members. It's quite plain (& encouraging)from reading new posters' accounts of their first outings skirted, etc., that this is far from a stagnant pond!

Hardly anyone here seems to be interested in the 'pretty boy' looks of the Fashionistas. True, JPG has regularly offered 'skirts for men' on the catwalk, but be honest, how many blokes have you (or anyone else?) seen wearing 'em, outside of the 'clubbing scene'? Does the chap's OTT eccentricity (by association) put them off? Some of his earlier stuff was really understated and even quite practical, but it's the "Fashion Industry" stigmatisation that sticks in folks' minds, unfortunately. Plus, looking at the example shown, any skirt-over-tr*users (or worse, leggings!) is now so passe!!!!!!!

Skirts (and tunics) over leggings are an acceptable way of providing warmth under the skirt or tunic. The footless aspect allows one to add socks, or layers of socks that may be more comfortable/warmer than tights. Also the leggings, socks combo allows for greater experimentation with colors and textures.

Why put down JPG? He's at least giving the skirted look for men a try, whether or not we like his particular styles.

I'm not, if you re-read what I put! He was one of the first to take a (conventional) Kilt and 'modernise' it - way before all the current Kilt-spinoffs appeared. He had the guts to wear his own stuff, too! The only problem is that JPG is such an outrageous character, that folk, instead of looking at the goods, just think, "Oh, another publicity gimmick!" That's just the way he is, though. It's not a 'put on'! He's probably the only (front-line) designer to have actively, and aggressively, marketed 'skirts for men' - the results have been/can be seen on the clubbing scene - but, and here's the rub, not 'on the street'.

The Fashion World is still a formidable 'enemy' as far as selling skirts to blokes is concerned - for two main reasons. One, Cost. Blokes tend to be extremely 'thrifty' when it comes to spending money on clothes, and the general perception is that "Fashion" clothing is very over-priced and, in any case, only for 'special occasions'. Two, Fashion Industry. Fashion is transitory. Big business sees to that. "Last years clothes" syndrome. Even wearing last year's football team colours! If skirts were marketed by the big chains, next year, they'd be 'out' - period.
