Didn't the Romans say that any bloke wearing tr*users was a Barbarian? There's still too many blokes on that programme wearing tr*users to be historically accurate, methinks!

Yes they did. Funny enough, I read the exact quote last week. Romans only regarded skirts as civilised wear - they took the form of tunics or short skirts. All men wore them - the toga was more a ceremonial thing.

So the quote was a "put down" on the barbarity of some of the peoples that the Romans had conquered - i.e. "Look how uncivilised they are - they even wear trousers"!

True, even today . . . :wink:
