Men in skirts article / discussion

Post by Charlie »

I was bored and did a search for 'men in skirts'. At

I found an article and a discussion - it seems to be mainly women. I posted a reply (#139). No need to register or log in. There's an awful lot of feminist drivel :( to wade through in the replies, but the article is quite good :)

I agree with you Charlie - that is a reasonably good article. I enjoyed reading it. As you say, there is a lot of irrelevant chatter in the replies (and I skipped a lot of it as I got bored) but nevertheless, there is a lot of positive stuff there. Lot of negatives as well. But that's life.

I left a comment, but it looks like the bulk of the discussion was back in April.

I have trouble with an article called "Men in Skirts" that shows a picture of a man wearing a corset. I know this may come as a surprise for some, but corests and skirts are two different garments. The result of that confusion is that this article is really about "men wearing clothing that implies woman's body parts" or "men cross-dressing" and not really about skirts at all.

Likewise, Bob! Pure 'sensationalism' - no substance! And just the 'wrong' message for those of us with doubting partners - makes yer sick! :shake:

I think that was meant to be a 'tongue in cheek' sort of comment - a joke if you will. The actual article didn't in any way suggest or imply that a man who wears a skirt is anything other than just a man - who happens to wear a skirt. I thought the article was very supportive of the idea of MIS - and questioned the status quo quite strongly.

That bothered me too. The opinion would have stated the case very well without the bizarre photo which will unavoidably taint every reader's first impression of the issue.
