Reading through the Seattle P-I article, the reporter hinted that Utilikilts was going to the MAGIC mens-fashion show in Los Vegas this year. Doing a bit of research, apperently this show is coming up in a couple of weeks!

Either way, this is exciting as it is (as far as I know) the first time men's skirts/kilts been introduced at a major US fashion expo.

Does this expo have any influence on the rest of the world, or is it limited to the USA?

That's a good question. From what I've found on their website, it looks like they have fashion buyers come from around the world to the show: http://show.magiconline.com/magic/v42/i ... n?id=10006

While it isn't the Paris runway, it looks like it is still quite huge on the world stage.
