Anyone had the pleats edges sewn?

I'd like to get some of my nicer Sportkilts sewn so as not to have to iron them.

Binx,
In the kilts I make, I usually sew the edges. First I don't have a professional high-pressure steam ironing machine, and second because some of my kilt are in lighter wool or another fabric that doesn't hold pleats as well as thick Scottish wool.

I had heard that sewing them can cause the pleats to curl after washings. Is that due to the fabric, or the thread/stitching used?

Binx,
I don't know, I don't have the problem... I have my kilts dry-cleaned..

Sewn down pleats can indeed curl up because of the thread shrinking. Most casual kilts have sewn creases, and they tend to curl a bit. But casual kilts get so easily wrinkled that you never notice the curling of the pleats.
