Changes needed

Don't see a way to drop an email to Mr. Admin, so here is a new fred.
Over the past few weeks on IMFF there has been quite a few days were the only new messages were from spammers. It now seems that they are attacking the Cafe as well.
Could I suggest a tightening of the new member procedure? to one were people apply with a fullish set of details, and a moderator has a quick look before approving the new membership. This might stop or at least deter this new breed of spammer. If a volunteer to help would be needed I am sure a few regulars would be willing, I know I would.

The odd one will always get through whatever system there is in place - there's no harm in extracting the urine from them - the odd brain cell they possess (between them?) will eventually recognise they're not welcome!!!!!!!!! :ninjajig:
