Mouse on holiday in Sussex...

I took Mrs Mouse on holiday for her birthday. As you may know, Mrs Mouse is a "wild swimmer" which means she is off swimming in the local river, whatever the temperature. So I did a search of Airbnb and found this set of simple holiday lets with a 20m wild swimming pool attached that you can use all day long.

And as you can see, she was in her element. The place had originally been a pig farm, until couple of architects bought the place and converted it into a range of holiday lets and constructed this purpose built wild swimming pool.

Each dwelling had a small patio with log burner, which led down to the pool. The decor was industrial with bare plywood, brick and insulation board finishes.
So did I go swimming in 15C water? Yes and no.

I cheated with a wetsuit, under my fishy leotard and tail.

But we had fun together in the pool on a couple of occasions.
Near by was the sea

So paddling was required, once boots and tights had been removed.

We also went and played all day on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway https://www.rhdr.org.uk We got a rover ticket which allowed us to go end to end of the line three times.

At Dungeness, the train stops for an hour, so we could have lunch in the railway cafe. The trains are one third scale size and run on 15" gauge rails for 13.5 miles. The line and some of the engines were built in 1927 and are based on LNER Gresley pacific engines like the Flying Scotsman. We traveled behind No 1 Green Goddess all day long and we both loved our time on the railway.

Another day we traveled up the coast by car and explored Hythe and further up, Folkstone where the main line railway used to run onto the harbour pier for the boat train connection. This has been discontinued and now the whole harbour wall has been made in to an area for walking and eating at a whole host of restaurant, some housed in old railway trucks.

From the harbour wall you get shots of the "White cliffs" with run up to Dover. People also walk their dogs along the wall and now I am out in public, I no longer care.....

Going to Sussex in April, had the benefit of being in the Bluebell season, and Mrs Mouse wanted to go to a Bluebell wood. We found a marvellous example and it was magical how the whole forest floor was covered in blue. We took many pictures, but you need to see it with your own eyes.

So Mrs Mouse had a loverly birthday week away and it is always good to do something nice for your life partner, which she really enjoys.

The holiday for me was covered with a small set of skirts and a couple of pairs of boots, both brown so I only needed one handbag. No trousers were packed, but since I aways wear skirts, not really an issue.
We cooked for ourselves and ate out at a series on pubs and cafes. My daughter came to visit us, from London, at the weekend, which was loverly for us both.
