That's a fair question - and possibly it is only for show. On the plus side, though, their photo does show an overtly male and masculine-looking employee - with a beard - wearing the skirt, so this is not a trans woman or anything of that nature. He looks smart and professional as well (apart from the green boots!)

Good on Eurostar giving male staff the choice to wear skirts and Dr Martens boots as part of the uniform. Unfortunately, the majority male staff will shy away from this which is a pity. If I was working for Eurostar I’d be over the moon.

Needless to say there are a lot of negative comments from bigoted narrow minded Daily Fail readers.

The new staff apparel range, unveiled at Eurostar’s Gare Du Nord terminal in Paris on Tuesday, features more than 50 items including graffiti-print neckerchiefs and replaces a uniform introduced more than a decade ago.

The move to gender neutral clothes follows the scrapping in 2022 of “gendered uniforms” by Virgin Atlantic.

When they were first introduced, the airline said it would allow staff to “wear the clothing that expresses how they identify or present themselves,” while making makeup optional and allowing crew to sport visible tattoos.

Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group is aiming to compete with Eurostar from 2030 as Britain opens up the Channel Tunnel to a second operator.

A submission on the scheme said the service would be “innovative, bold and unmistakably Virgin.”

Eurostar unveiled its new uniform during Paris’s autumn fashion week and plans to introduce it among all 2,600 train and station staff immediately.

It said the design combines fashion elements from its four main markets, including French “navy blue monochrome and simple cuts,” a neckerchief inspired by street art from Brussels and Amsterdam, and green Dr. Martens, described as a “British icon of self-expression.”

Staff will also be able to choose from shoes or punk-era eight-hole boots.

The uniform took two and a half years to create following consultation with 80 employees on practical requirements, which led to the use of stretchy sports-inspired fabrics.

Eurostar said its old uniforms will be recycled into products such as mattresses and hanging basket liners.

The new collection will be the fourth in the firm’s history and replaces one designed by London-based Jermyn Street Design and introduced in 2014.

The company, which is controlled by French state railway SNCF, attracted 19.5 million passengers last year and aims to increase the total to 30 million by the end of the decade.

"Guy in the skirt looks good, it suits him. Looks like a kilt. Maybe if men were able to dress and look differently then some wouldn't feel the need to transition. 125 years ago women didn't wear trousers and covered their legs. If women were able to start wearing men's clothes why shouldn't men have the same right. Within reason of course- the Virgin outfit is vile."

I showed Mrs Bookworm the picture from the Daily Fail of the guy in a skirt, and she said "there's a problem?"...

Good on them for giving men the choice to wear a skirt if they wish, good looking uniform, would definitely go for the skirt option if I worked for Eurostar.

Sensible of Eurostar and the tall guy in the skirt/kilt plus Doc Martins looks great, but the Telegraph can stuff their avaricious interference, cramming the screen with profit-seeking 'promotions' .

As I recall, some years ago Branson allowed himself be photographed in a 'female' hostesses uniform, the red colour shouting it out loud.

At least the staff have the option of shoes instead of boots. If I had to wear boots as part of a uniform I'd seek employment elsewhere as I cannot stand having anything covering or interfering with my ankles.

The question remains -- "Will any male employees choose the skirt option, or was it just put in there for show?"

Is there an actual skirt being marketed as part of the male uniform? A skirt in production for the male uniform?

Or is just one, single skirt, to be worn by the male model?

I really like the blue jacket/vest/skirt ensemble which can be worn without the vest.
I can really go for that Even change the shirt to a white, or any complimentary color, shirt.

I wonder if this "uniform" can/will be sold to non-employees, especially across the pond
