The current Ryder Cup reminds me of seeing it live in 2014 in Gleneagles, Scotland, UK. There, I witnessed about 10 USA supporters, lined up, all in Stars and Stripes kilts. It was a fabulous sight to see!

Those dudes were probably of some remote Scots heritage and blissfully unaware of the ancestors who were heaping curses on their heads.
There is an awful lot of scope for fun with shots like that but I also wonder if any of those 10 bravehearts graduated to wearing bona fide honest to goodness skirts?

As a North American, now anyway, I find some truth in the description of the kilt as: a type of skirt worn by soldiers in Scotland and men of Scottish descent living in north America, as well as American tourists visiting Scotland. But hardly ever by scots.

G'day all... I love my golf ...actually President of our local 9 green /18 tees course with about 110 members ...Did get to 5 handicap once but now on 14.. The Ryder Cup would be AMAZING to go to despite me being Australian with no links to either team ..Watched a lot of the event but missed the kilts being worn . However what I did see was the behavior of some of the American (so called golf fans) was reprehensible to say the least..Once swings are deliberately interrupted by yelling and swearing it's crossed the line.
Golf prides itself on being respectful and cheating is an absolute no no . At least the European team weren't robbed of a well deserved victory by these antics... The golf itself by both teams was incredible as was Bethpage Black course. However the awful minority of US fans ruined it ..

The next Ryder Cup 2027 is due to be held at the Adare Manor Hotel in that most beautiful of villages in Co. Limerick which happens to sit right on my route to our holiday bolthole in S.W. Kerry and remains the most serious bottleneck to my progress thereto.
Up to that point my route SW is all M-way and uncluttered. I now have to thank the Ryder Cup organisers for lighting a match under the Highway authorities here and galvanising them into building an M-way extension bypassing Adare at last, due to open early next year in good time for the Event.

At any time, Adare is well worth a visit or three and with the coming of the bypass it will revert to being uncluttered and devoid of queuing through traffic. Then it will be once again a joy just to saunter around & look at the amazing up to 600 year-old architecture in the place.

I guess Adare is what Athlone used to be back when I lived on Ireland 98-00. Back then I don't remember any other motorway than a tiny stretch close to Dublin Airport, think the trip from Dublin port to Moycullen west of Galway took us a good 3.5h back then, and going though Athlone was always busy.

I can see on maps that the M-network really has extended a lot since then!

Was quite charming driving on all these tiny roads with stone walls and hedges on either side of the road and getting stuck behind tractors and cows being led between fields, but it sure added up the travel times.
