Hi Al.
Interesting in the technical aspects of construction and for illustration of a dark period.
The kilt however, is the least suited garment to any modern theatre of war.
Trench warfare as that was, in particular.
No one should romanticise or glorify the added suffering that the men suffered because of it either.
I have family connections with the Gordon Highlanders, the regiment mentioned in the video.
Once upon a time, the local name for them was the "Gay Gordons".

An old lady in my road stopped me and said she loved to dance the Gay Gordons many years ago :)

Of course "gay" had a completely different meaning for common language until the 60's.
