Trench coats

I already own a black trench coat and I have been looking to buy another one but it’s getting very difficult finding a trench coat in the men’s clothes department that I’ve had to go to the women’s clothes department where they sell them. My local Matalan has a nice woman’s trench coat that I like which has a hood. It’s a size 22 which I think will fit because a size 22 dress fits me.

I've got it on my long list of things i want to sew. I have "stolen" a long winter coat from my wife that I used all last season, I'll posi a picture when I get it down from the attic in a month or two.

I have been looking for a black leather trench coat, which I think would go with my style. I too think I have found one I like in the "women's" side of the shop. Just got to find the pile of cash...

I usually wear a trench coat with a t-shirt mini dress (and just recently a long t-shirt midi dress) and black leggings or black opaque tights with my Doc Martens. I like to show off the skirts and dresses I’m wearing so I usually wear the coat open the way Stevie is wearing his coat in the bottom photo and not buttoned up. The trench coat I seen at Matalan is a sort of light cream colour. Even though I’ve plucked the courage to wear skirts and dresses in public I’m still nervous about trying on clothes in store in the women’s clothes department so I’m only guessing it will fit me as it’s a size 22.

Practically I don't see much difference between a trench coat and a shirt dress of heavy material.
We don't have the weather here to justify such protection. Closest thing I have is a "dry as a bone" waxed cotton jacket.

I decided to buy the trench coat at my local Matalan. When I got home to try it on I was delighted to find that it fits me perfect. I now know that for coats I’m a size 22 which is no surprise as I’m between a size 18 and 24 when buying skirts, dresses and leggings. The trench coat looks a lighter colour than in the photo I supplied on the original post.

My one and only trench coat has a zip in/out lining for added warmth.
Mine is a London Fog brand. Paid a pretty penny for it about 25 years ago.
I can still wear it, when the weather gets cold enough, that is
This is similar to mine and it comes down to below my knees

It’s awesome you found a trench coat you like! If a size 22 dress fits you, the coat will probably fit too. Just check the shoulders and arms to make sure it’s comfy. A hood is super handy for rainy days. I recently got a coat from GMA Deals And Steals Today, (
https://www.dealsandstealstoday.com/) and it fit perfectly even though it wasn’t from the men’s section Sometimes you find the best stuff in unexpected places! If you like it and it feels good, go for it! Anyone else tried women’s coats for a better style or fit?

Thanks for the heads up on my trench coat. I’vd started buying women’s coats now as I prefer the style of them and fit amd for some reason they only sell trench coats in the women’s clothes department now in tne high street. I also bought a woman’s long black coat that goes down to my ankles. Great for when I’m feeling shy and I want to wear black sheer tights/pantyhose for the sensual feeling they give me but I’m in a shy mood to show them off and I want to keep warm.

Watch the meet ups,
we may have a plan.
The heavy coat has earned it's keep over the past few weeks too.
Steve.

I wouldn’t mind buying more trench coats. I think they are a good look.

Just make sure you have something on your legs when you wear a trench coat. Otherwise someone might think you are a flasher.
