Sheer tights and pantyhose

I was wondering what types of hosiery fellow male skirt wearers wear with their dresses/skirts in public. I wear black leggings or thick 100 denier black tights when wearing a skirt or dress. However, I’m tempted to try out sheer tights/pantyhose from 10 to 15 denier but afraid that it might look too feminine as sheer tights and pantyhose is more like make-up for the legs. I do wear sheer hosiery in private at home and the feel of them are amazing but it would be a dare to wear in public.

There’s a wide range of sheer hosiery you can choose. They range from a subtle sun kissed enhancement, through Matt microfibre, to the shiny glossy oiled look. That’s before we even get into colours.
I wear Cecilia de Rafael 10 and 20 denier tights - shiny and very silky.
Wolford are excellent quality; I use their basic sheets and also the Ultra sheets (less than 10 denier). Expensive but worth it.
I also like Cette, Aristoc, Levante, and Trasparenze. The last company have some fabulous coloured sheer tights called Oleandro.
I’ve tried US hosiery. Sorry, chaps; they are poor quality. All of the above are European manufacturers.

That’s a good list of brand that I’m thinking of trying out. I do like the look of ultra sheer black gloss. I have a pair of Aristoc Ultra Shine in black 10 denier which are very nice and quite sexy. I also have a dozen pair of black fishnet tights but I find fishnets quite uncomfortable on the legs even though they do look alluring.
It’s very surprising you say hosiery in the US is of bad quality considering it was the Americans who invented nylon and American soldiers in WW2 gave their English girlfriends chocolates and nylon stockings as gifts.

I wear tights from
Sheertex a Canadian manufacturer, the synthetic material they make them from makes them almost indestructible. Almost never run, you have to take a knife or pair of scissors to them to cut them.
The one set that did run I brushed my leg up against the edge of a cabinet that has a screw sticking out. I bled like crazy from the deep scratch.
For special events where i need color tights I go to these guys as they custom dye each order to the color you order.

You’re right to be surprised: the US should be producing top quality hosiery.
But it’s not. L’eggs are scratchy and cheap, Hanes adequate at best. Donna Karan made some decent hosiery - but nothing like as good as Falke, Fogal, Gerbe or Calzedonis, to make a few (more European manufacturers).
No, for hosiery, especially sheer hosiery, it has to be Europe.

Thanks for the reminder about
Sheertex and the link. I've bought their excellent products before.
I clicked on the link and discovered that they had a great, discounted deal on their
Classic Sheer Rip-Resist Tights at £35 a pair with free delivery to the UK.

I raised an order.
I'm wearing a few years older, pair of the Classic Sheer Rip-Resist Tights with my skirt ATM. I've been breaking in a new pair of patent T-Bar block-heeled shoes and my big toe nail has rubbed a small hole in the tights.
For the record, the Sheertex company was initially called Sheerly Genius.

Thanks for the links. I’m really tempted to buy those Sheertex sheer tights as they look lovely. However, I’m a bit scared to wear sheer hosiery out in public even though I’m really wanting to for the incredible feeling sheer tights have on shaven legs. I’ll stick to leggings and thick opaque tights until I get used to it before moving to sheer tights.

Thing is, most people just don’t spot sheer tights, especially in Matt finish and flesh colour. Stay around 10 denier, wear a loud tshirt which will draw the eye - and boom! Problem solved. Wearing sheer flesh hosiery is easy. Much easier than wearing a skirt (which I’ve only done once!)

So I take it you wear sheer flesh hosiery under short pants if you don’t wear skirts and dresses. Unfortunately, I find trousers/pants and short pants quite uncomfortable so I’ll probably wear them with a kilt, dress or skirt.

Whenever I put on hosiery that is apt to run I wear medical examination gloves to keep my fingernails from punching through.

MY problem is I wind up snagging the hosiery on something within 20 minutes of putting them on and they always run. That all stopped with Sheertex.

If by “short pants” you mean “shorts”, then yes; I wear sheer hosiery under shorts. It’s not that hard. I like shorts so I’m quite happy wearing them.
I tend not to wear any tights under kilts, although I sometimes wear black opaque 50 denier tights or sheertex tights (they call them sheer but they are opaque) under my Utilikilt.
I certainly don’t wear tights under trousers. That would be very uncomfortable.

Yeah, I could never see the point in wearing tights under trousers unless it was for medical reasons. The feel of only just wearing tights on the legs is a lot better as the feeling of cool air on tights clad legs is sublime and incredible and very grounding.
Yeah, I meant shorts when I said short pants. I would wear shorts but I’m having difficulty buying shorts my size as I am overweight at the moment and wearing a pair a bit tight can be uncomfortable.
I wear opaque black tights or black leggings with a skirt, dress or kilt. The thought of wearing sheer nude tights with shorts does seem tempting but I’d need to lose a bit of weight to get into shorts. However, it’s reassuring to know that not many people notice if you are wearing sheer nude tights.

I wear tights under pants as an extra layer to keep me warm when I'm going to be out side for a while in cold winter weather.

I buy most of my stockings and tights from Romartex, a Polish company, through Amazon
https://amzn.eu/d/iLqC3EY They seem the only company that do a proper range of real colours. You would be amazed at the number of women that want to know where I get my hosiery from, because of the colours.
