And this is still part of the problem..
Re: And this is still part of the problem..
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
IMHO, this comes down to the Caveman theory and beliefs.
Men were the hunters and protectors of the family unit.
Women were the nurturer's, supporting men and the family unit.
Basically, women only needed men to procreate offspring.
(Think of a lion in the animal kingdom.)
In many aspects, women are the 'stronger' sex. They bear the
offspring to keep the family unit going on. Using the animal
kingdom example, let a predator try to attack the offspring.
The women(mother) will tear you a new one
This "Caveman" attitude continues today, with the majority of
men keeping it going. They think, because they are 'stronger',
that other(ALL) men must follow this concept.
Men will ridicule others(peer pressure) if 'they' don't follow this ideology.
Men, who think outside of the box, are considered inferior to the human race.
How many 'millennia' will it take to change this attitude(ideology)
Again, this is my opinion - take it for what it's worth

Re: And this is still part of the problem..
When will we see a 50 year old man and woman on the cat walk wearing a dress or skirt presumably design for a 20 year old? This is what is missing in fashion shows a couple breaking the barrier. Until these fashion shows showing a couple breaking all kinds of barriers there is going to be problems in getting accepting men in the fashion of wearing dresses and skirts. These fashion shows should be showing women accepting men in dresses and skirts for going out for the evening in matching outfits.
We need more than a man strolling the walkway in a dress or skirt.

I fully agree with this statement!! When the fashion industry decides to make it a thing then we will get more men in skirts!! But not until they do!!mr seamstress wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 1:49 pm When will we see a 50 year old man and woman on the cat walk wearing a dress or skirt presumably design for a 20 year old? I doubt they will be doing this in the near future though!

I think it's probably the biggest part of the problem. It certainly was for me in the beginning. To be perfectly honest I should say that the fear of it was the biggest part of the problem. And this is still part of the problem..

Our member Mark is seen close to designers and catwalks. He is 60 and in designer skirts if you follow his instagram. I wonder if more of us should start posting our pictures on instagram?
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...
