Carl, I'm sorry to hear that you and your girlfriend are not together anymoŕe and she said such hurtful words.
It sounds like she lost her cool. Give her time to cool off and re-evaluate.

I try very hard to do so.

On the other note, it seems there was a positively massive misunderstanding on her part the other day, and this morning I found an apology on my mobile, which was confirmed in a subsequent voice call. We're trying to patch things back together. I'm hopeful, but cautious.

The main thrust of it was that she was trying to goad me into something I was NOT going to do, and used slurs as part of that that I've had to endure for longer than my adult life, and the same one that caused me to walk away from my failing grandfather who, the next time I saw him, was in a box. The other one was to challenge the Captain's Prerogative which states, "If the Captain, who is responsible for his safety, the safety of his ship, and all of those who sail on her, indicates he is not confident of a safe voyage then he is absolutely within his rights to stay in port." -- and I was not going to compromise on that one. The former. in context, was merely a powerful annoyance. I also offered modern parallels to the latter, one of which has resonances with her where somebody made a very bad decision and undertook a flight which he should not have and which he was badgered into by a cranky spoilt wife and splashed his aircraft into Nantucket Sound on a flight between Hyannis and Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts several years ago killing all aboard -- all to make it to a wedding rehearsal dinner. I'm enough of a man to be confident in my decisions -- even if those decisions mean to "stay put".

However, with an apology being offered, I played "the Big Dog" and accepted it, and we shall see what happens.

Not germane to the relationship, but I do find the "half-man half-woman wimp" rather amusing and so very wrong. Few women these days wish to consider themselves 'wimps' and any man that has the balls to wear a skirt or dress in the face of this wimpy world of minions to conformity is the last one you could legitimately call a wimp. Tossing slang that they may think will injure your manhood is a reflection of their own fears and insecurities, definitely not the men who readily take on that insecure world of sheeple.

I wish you well, Carl, but best to meet up with and iron out these problems early on in a relationship, provided the other party comes 'half way', so to speak

The other day MOH and I celebrated our 55th Wedding anniversary, but before that we did all sorts of things together which were the training ground for our eventual long relationship. The skirting came later, but I already knew that she would not come on board there, so I've learned to live with that.

We clocked up our 52nd this week, though I've taken to kilts and skirts only in the past six or seven years. So long as my skirts are A-line and not too short, she is very tolerant and doesn't even mind her friends seeing me.

Well done, Geron. We're probably about the same age. Glad for you that your spouse tolerates skirts of any kind.

Here in Tiskilwa, Illinois, it's -15°F, with a wind chill of -35°F.

It is forecast to warm up to -6°F this afternoon, with a wind chill of a balmy -25°F.

They even canceled our church service, except by Zoom. I don't think I'll be out and about much today.

Still warm downunder......
The next week, highs between 28°C and 33°C and showers most days, overnight lows 22°C to 24°C. Currently 1am, and a cooler 24°C outside.

Fairly typical SEQLD summer weather.

This morning it was 1 degrees F in Washington, IN! Not quite what I was expecting to wale up to. Headed north and expect it to remain that temp when I get home.
