Buying Women's Trousers/Pants

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

I wear heels only with dresses. Trousers? Forget about it.

How about girls' pants? Sizes mean so little!

After a yard sale, someone had the leftovers neatly organized and labeled "free". Right price and we needed a bunch of rags so we stopped. Actually found some decent clothes, but picked up some toddler clothes for rags. They are so stretchy I decided to see if they fit a chunky 70-year-old man.

They did and almost look like what someone might wear out and about. Not me--not my style. So, just for fun, as this is a group that likes to try different style innovations, here we go...

This one is size 18M, which I'm pretty sure means 18 months.

This one is labeled 24M.

I need to find some of these. Being 6ft +change makes it hard to find the right leg length. Pedal pushers which aren't supposed to be pedal pushers look weird.
Follow up from previous post, tried on some jeans from the other side of the aisle, fit grand apart from length.

Pants (inseam) length -

Short shorts - a couple of inches of crotch seaming
Shorts - a few more inches (half way down the thigh)
Bermuda shorts - getting close to the knee
Pedal Pushers - kneeing ?
Capri pants - about mid calf
7/8s hem - ankle pants
Ankle pants - covering the area above a shoe
Dust draggers - just dragging in the dust at the shoe heel
Any more and your pants are toooo long - roll'em up !

Now what is it with this pants thing in a SKIRT FORUM ?
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

"Pedal pushers", "clam diggers", and "crapis" [sic] all refer to the same style of cropped pants. "Clam diggers" tend not to be as tight around the calf as the other two "styles" and tend to be somewhat functional. None are particularly attractive, at least to this guy's eye. They're just awkward.

If you’re timid about openly wearing a Skirt when out and about, no-one will suspect that you’re wearing Women’s Trousers/ Pants.

Some of the observable features of women's pants (jeans etc.)

Tight contour fitting (think on the order of leggings tights)
Worn off the hips (way lower !)
NO pockets and perhaps no belt loops
Waist closing - side or back seam zipper (bold or invisible zipper ?)
Front fly closing on the left side
Lace - peek-a-boo holes detailing
Embellished pocket detailing
Perhaps pastel colors - pink yellow lavender white (sheer)
And previously noted inseam (hem) length stopping short of covering ankle and/or footwear

Just some of the casual observations.

And none of those apply to this woman's jeans.

And we come right back to square one one. Women's clothes are whatever women chose to wear. Men's clothes fall in in to a small range of acceptability for those 99.99% who wish not to rock the boat.

Narrow range, and overwhelmingly dull.

I made this observation (again) to my wife and she just shrugged.

So true Modoc, but women seized control of the boat and kept it, men have to learn to mutiny or just be scuppered.
Actually the jeans and trainers illustrated could safely be termed boringly unisex.
Steve.
PS I still say trousers are trousers, while I can wear a skirt or a dress anytime, the male variety does its purpose.
As for being coy about skirts, wearing female trousers as a subterfuge doesn't really do much at all except propagate a lie.
Masculine style women's trousers cannot be considered a stepping stone to fashion freedom for men, can they?

It's hard to get your head around. Trousers were all menswear. Then women started wearing trousers and made their own style, womenswear trousers. They also took some mens styles of trousers and made them womenswear. Those styles became so popular among women that men stopped wearing them, production ceased and they become womenswear only.
Now if men wear these womens trousers they are venturing into feminine attire territory and undermining their own masculinity as a bold step to fashion freedom?
It does not seem that bold. More, an example of a rediculous situation.

The one thing missing is pocket size. When putting your phone into your pocket and half it is sticking out, a dead giveaway
