A few weeks ago the press reported on a row at a school in Norfolk, after the headmaster decided that boys should be allowed to wear skirts. Some parents were outraged. Not me. I think it sounds a great idea, and should be introduced nationwide.

After all, it surely takes a lot longer to grow out of a skirt than a pair of trousers.

Sure does, and by the skirt lengths of some girls at our local "posh" school, they have had the same ones for their whole educational career.
Trousers would have been re-purposed long, long ago.

Remarkable how the mere mention that a boy can wear a skirt degenerates into outrage. Not sure what they’re do pissed about but wow, they do need to grow up and worry about what’s really important

Stu can correct me if I am wrong but the "outrage" is not simply about boys in skirts.
Skirts are universally allowed but shorts are equally banned and some parents are in a lather over that.
"Their John or Janet would so much prefer shorts in hot weather"!
Why exactly this should be is likely to be behind the Brass Wall in the Telegraphic Bloc.
Probably juvenile and ill-conceived as these panty twisters tend to be anyway.

Seems there are several stories that make news when boys wear skirts to protest the no shorts rule.

There are, but in most of those skirts were not an open option for boys.
This one, the head has made it clear, anyone can wear a skirt but no one is allowed to attend in shorts.
They'd only be complying with what is already officially endorsed which may be socially radical in some eyes but there isn't protest value at the school.
Ironically, we have a similar rule in our office dress code, IE no shorts across the board.
I am the only male who gets round that by donning a skirt and no legwear, comfy!

Nowadays this usually is media-speak for 'we found some negative comments on Twitter'. I imagine the vast majority of parents didn't even notice, or care.
