Unless you try to use the women's room, you're OK, even with North Carolina's (I think) controversial bathroom law. Your problem is not hormones, the problem is having too much imagination, or perhaps watching too many American tv series, where they can't go anywhere without whipping out a gun and shooting someone. In most civilized countries, real life is not like that, even if some people may think it is (and thanks to tv, advertising, and big business in general, it probably will be, ere long). Most people are loath to upset or even speak to strangers, let alone hit them. This reminds me of one of the earlier times I filled my car at a gasoline station. I had been visiting my brother in Eastern Washington State (where I wore skirts around his house) and had started driving home to San Francisco. There was a station off the side of the highway on the Yakima Indian Reservation where I had stopped on previous return trips (much less expensive). I pulled in where my car would be between the pump and the station store. I filled my car and the pump said to pick up your receipt inside. I thought OK and walked inside and got my receipt without any reaction. There were a couple of loafers sitting at a table who gave the impression they had never seen a guy in a skirt before. That story was several years ago. These days I wear nothing but skirts on weekends. I generally wear to work once or twice a month. Four more weeks and I'll be retired and wearing full time. My point, of course, is not to belittle anyone, but to encourage anyone who's still reluctant to appear in public to just summon all the courage you can, pick the venue you can best deal with, and go for it. And someday you'll look back and wonder what all the fuss was about.
