I've taken domestic flights in skirts and heels several times with no significant consequences.
The only thing you might want to watch out for is any metal in unusual locations, such as buckles on a kilt or metal buttons on the front. The TSA X-ray equipment picks this up as unusual, and the TSA agents may therefore walk you over to a side room and check out you and your carry-ons in detail. But in my case, at least, it was all friendly, and all over in 5-10 minutes with a wish for a good trip. One TSA agent told me he himself owned and wore a kilt, and liked it.
And again, to keep been that from happening, just wear a skirt or kilt with no, "unusual," metal.
Reaction from airport vendors, passengers, crew, and so forth was zero, just like anywhere else. You might have a slightly increased chance of having an empty seat next to you but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Aren't most airline seats preassigned? But I suppose if there are plenty of empty seats and somebody sees you and has a negative reaction, they could try to find a vacant seat elsewhere.
I was afraid of public reaction to what I wear even before the climate heated up with talk of who belongs in what bathrooms, but now I'd be extremely afraid for my physical safety going out in public in a skirt or worse a dress. Obviously they wouldn't do anything during the actual flight, but I'd be constantly watching over my shoulder in any public place. I'm such a coward, I will probably remain hidden behind the safety of my own house the rest of my life. I envy you guys with more, uh, testosterone-driven confidence than I have

This weekend Moonshadow Jenn and myself were out and about in skirts right smack dab in the middle of the Bible Belt and had no problems not even bathroom problems. Everyone treated us just like we were wearing pants. Your fear is ALL in your head. So there is no reason you should be looking over your shoulder at all.

to RALPH You have to start slowly.I can remember the first time I made contact with someone while wearing a skirt. It was a Berger King I passed the place every morning watching the activity. When I realized that at six in the morning it was empty except for drive in activity I made my move. Made sure I had small bills and everything. I don't know what they said to each other after I left. But there was no reaction to me.
Start with a gas or petrol station. again early in the morning or late at night. Use one that you could pay at the pump. You could almost hide yourself with your car. wear a long T shirt over your skirt.
I did this a couple of times it worked perfectly. I gained confidence. Then one time I pulled up again to the farthest pump. Filled up than I had a problem with the receipt. I had to walk across the entire station to the payment booth. I swallowed took a deep breath and went. When I got back to my car I realized nobody was paying any attention to me or my skirt. It gets easier every time.
Again it takes time. I still have some fears. But I really enjoy being out in a skirt. And I realize these people don't pay my mortgage.

That's what they do. I used to experience the same thing when I was much heavier and tended to overflow my seat.
Why someone would tolerate sitting next to someone in shorts and not someone in a skirt is beyond me, and this may all be in my imagination. I haven't been on many flights since I started wearing skirts but once or twice this seemed to happen. And if it
does happen, the only consequence is that I get more legroom.

Unless you try to use the women's room, you're OK, even with North Carolina's (I think) controversial bathroom law. Walking up to a public urinal and lifting your hem will get you some attention but that's just normal curiosity, like, "How's he going to do that?"
I don't think anyone on this board has ever been beaten up for wearing a skirt. With all the LGBT activism and protection that's been going on these past 10-20 years, just wearing a skirt is pretty mild behavior.
You never know until you try. Just pick someplace easy (or least terrifying) like buying gas or darting into a convenience store and then do it. Don't cower, don't cringe, just make believe you have a pair of pants on. Then go from there.

Caultron is right 99% of the people don't notice and if they do they don't care. And the other 1% ain't worth it.

Your problem is not hormones, the problem is having too much imagination, or perhaps watching too many American tv series, where they can't go anywhere without whipping out a gun and shooting someone. In most civilized countries, real life is not like that, even if some people may think it is (and thanks to tv, advertising, and big business in general, it probably will be, ere long). Most people are loath to upset or even speak to strangers, let alone hit them. If they do not like a person"s appearance, they will just look the other way.

This reminds me of one of the earlier times I filled my car at a gasoline station. I had been visiting my brother in Eastern Washington State (where I wore skirts around his house) and had started driving home to San Francisco. There was a station off the side of the highway on the Yakima Indian Reservation where I had stopped on previous return trips (much less expensive). I pulled in where my car would be between the pump and the station store. I filled my car and the pump said to pick up your receipt inside. I thought OK and walked inside and got my receipt without any reaction. There were a couple of loafers sitting at a table who gave the impression they had never seen a guy in a skirt before. Nothing out loud, just looks.

Wow, walking across the
entire station in a skirt! How far we've come. But I bet we all remember our first few scary outings. They never come easy.

Yeah, those gas station loafers can be brutal, eh? Or not...
My point, of course, is not to belittle anyone, but to encourage anyone who's still reluctant to appear in public to just summon all the courage you can, pick the venue you can best deal with, and go for it. And someday you'll look back and wonder what all the fuss was about.

That story was several years ago. These days I wear nothing but skirts on weekends. I generally wear to work once or twice a month. Four more weeks and I'll be retired and wearing full time. I've bought six skirts this year in anticipation.
