Uncle Al, I am blind in my right eye and have been since about 11 years of age as a result of an accident. So welcome, fellow Cyclops. Have I missed something as to your reason?

Hi Dennis,
To finally 'let the cat out of the bag', I'm undergoing cataract surgery.
My left eye was done about 2 weeks ago. Vision has not settled down
yet, but I've gone from 20/200 to 20/20- (20/20 minus-cause I missed
a couple of letters) My right eye will be operated on tomorrow, the 15th.
The colors are much more vivid, brighter, and the light hurts. MUST use
sunglasses when outside. I didn't realize that I was looking through a
yellow haze at everything until the day after my 1st surgery.
I'm getting the TORIC lens implants. I will only need 'reeders' for anything
close up. Now I can read street signs almost a block away. I was able
to read a license plate about 65 feet in front of me. Couldn't do that
2 weeks ago.

I've had my two lens implants for almost 3 years now and all is well. I was astonished to be able to read the signs in a pedway from the other side of the block (shorter side) and they were more or less 3.5" x 7" rectangular signs like you'd see next to an office door with the occupant's name on it. Improvement from before when I had to be about 3/4 of the way to it. Street signs, etc. Way more visible, Have gotten more used to daylight but still need sunglasses (clip-ons) from time to time.
Hope all goes well and you're soon spotting gloomily-plumaged birds trying to hide in similarly dull and dreary trees. Bright-plumage is easy.

Thanks Uncle Al for clearing that up. I had noticed your ccyclops comment for a while but as I had been on holiday I thought that I's missed something. I'm pleased that your sight has improved and hope that the other eye operation goes well also. I have thought about have laser eye surgery to improve the vision in my left eye but having only one eye I have to weigh the risks with the benefits. As I am losing my hearing slowly then being blind also would be a bit of a disaster to say the least. I wear a contact lens for long sightedness and now that I am getting older need glasses to read by.
