That is interesting. May be women are used to having to be strong and demand their rights to get anywhere in a male dominated society and thus can wear what ever they like now. Men have not had to do this and are at a loss to buck the system.

Did you catch the one comment, so far? I hope he does follow up with an artical about his experiance if he wears a kilt to work. I get very tired of the "I can do what I want but you have to conform", attitude!

Thought I'd post a comment to counter the first comment. Its subject to moderation so might not appear:
"I absolutely agree with everything you say. I’ve long wondered why men have to sweat in jackets and pants with or without the hated necktie while women stay cool and comfortable in floaty dresses and sandals. You, like me are fifteen years into the twenty-first century; others are still stuck in the nineteenth century with its Dickensian attitudes. By the way – I’m a man and I often wear skirts – they’re much more comfortable than pants!"

Some of us have not waited for the time to come. Nor did I ever have to fight for my right to wear a skirt; I just did it!

It was not necessary to write such a requirement into the manual, since it never occurred to any of the men that a skirt might be more comfortable. But let the author turn up in the kilt he mentioned; it won't take them long to amend the manual.

"I can’t think of any article of clothing more absurd than the necktie. The freedom women have with their clothing choices reflects two things. First, that men think fashion shouldn’t matter if you have a Y chromosome, because they regard clothing not as comfort or expression, but as a uniform, and, second, that men are too chickens–t to step outside the box, and are totally petrified by the thought of being different from any other man in any imaginable way. Right on for men’s skirts!"

I have just posted a comment on the article above and it is being reviewed. I hope that the comments so far posted will generate a healthy dialog on the viabilty of mens unbifurcated garments.

A tie makes it hell to shove bra straps toward the neck when they start slipping off the shoulders. Maybe that's a major reason women don't wear ties. And I am glad I don't have to wear a tie for that very reason.

Perhaps a bra with straps that cross in back would work better for you?
