Hi folks,

Started wearing a utility kilt about a month ago, Damn Near Kilt 'Em Highlander, as well as a Stillwater MacLaren Thrifty kilt.

Came over here after some issues out of the gate with another forum, y'all seem like fine folk.

I've never seen someone live and up close with a kilt, but started wearing because I've wanted to since 2001, and so far am the solo wearer out here, although some gents at my church are interested in jumping in.

Welcome, Max! Utility kilts are a great everyday garment - the comfort and freedom of a skirt with the practicality of plentiful pockets.

Thanks, folks, for your warm welcome. The skirtcafe is pretty nonjudgmental and supportive, I'm learning a lot from researching the forums, as well as learning how to be a kilt guy in the U.S.

I've yet to see another up live and close kilter, so your pics are greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure this is exactly southern Colorado, but if you want some kilt company for a day or two try the Colorado Scottish Festival, August 9-10, in Denver.

and there are probably others. These events typically have dance competitions, marching & bagpipe competitions, other highland sports, shopping, food, clan organizations, and so forth. And lots of guys, including policemen, wearing kilts for the day.

I'm not sure if it was in that fine list of web sites but there is a huge Highland Game and Pipe band competition at Estes Park which I believe is in northern Colorado sometime in August or September.
The first time I wore a kilt in Public was sometime in the mid-nineties. I joined Tom's Cafe' in 2004 (?) and began learning about the concept of men wearing skirts in earnest about that time I also joined another forum centered about the kilt it's history, heritage, and the effort to bring it out of occasional wear to being a viable everyday mens garment. I'm now a full time kiltie and an occasional skirtman. My wife prefers the kilt and enjoys the compliments as much as I do if not more! Out of respect for her I confine my skirt wearing to the house and yard and I'm ok with that. Whether that changes in future or not remains to be seen.I own several kilts both contemporary and traditional bought from places like Stillwater Kilts, Sport Kilt, and U.T Kilts. The three traditional hand made kilts I own were bought from J Byous Kilts in Savannah Georgia. I like you am on a fixed income now so the "tanks" are probably not on the menu except for one last in the Texas Bluebonnet tartan (my state of birth) which is my 41st anniversary gift from my wife!
