I've been following
The Sartorialist for some time now, and was quite surprised to see
this as the headliner this morning.
The overall effect, I find a bit jarring, but it's a darned good start. The comments are pretty evenly divided, too, which is good.

A very high number of positive comments. Lots of folk saying "why shouldn't men wear skirts?" and similar. Very encouraging, but I doubt that the posters are a cross-section of society!
His skirt is a bit too short. Juxtaposed with the bag, it tends to make the overall look too "old lady". But the mad stare cancels that out nicely!

Yes, there were several skirt-approving comments. Those that did not approve seemed to dislike the length of the skirt rather than the wearing of a skirt by a man. "Old-lady" appeared quite often. And, personally, I have to agree. I do not like the appearance of a skirt that ends somewhere along the calf. It does have something old-fashioned about it, for me, or look like theatrical period costume. Heavy and cumbersome rather than light and sporty, as a short skirt could be. Many references to priests, too, though I fail to see any similarity with ecclesiastic garments..
Men on the German forum favour long skirts, as some of you here do, but they are not for me, and I don't think the photo in question will promote skirt's for men. But who knows?
Let me add that I could not understand the many references to a "masculine" look. The model looked neither masculine nor otherwise; just a man lurking in the shadows!

I don't like the bag or the jacket, not impressed with the shoes but maybe his feet are that shape! My shoes are the size of a medium oil tanker so who am I to criticise his?
I don't have a problem with the skirt length, it is short enough to not get under his feet but long enough so that there is no chance of anything being on view when sat down. I wouldn't mind one myself!
