Due to our curretn economy the City of Chicago has cancelled the annual Celtic Fest, normally held in Grant Park about this time each year.
Because of health problems I had to forgo going to the Bristol Renaisence Faire this year and was looking freward to my trip downtown in a kilt.
Even one of our local churches, that always held an Irish Fest has cancelled.
Our the faires and fests really hurting this year!
It could be devastating to vendors that depend on these events to bring in their yearly revenue.
Any one know more about this situation?

Are you sure it's cancelled? I was under the impression it was this weekend, and think the wife was dragging me down there this Sunday.

On the right side of the web page is a Google Map with a contact:

Celtic Fest Chicago
Grant Park
Jackson Blvd. & Columbus Dr.
Chicago IL 60604
312.744.3315

Have you tried to contact them or anyone associated with the event?
It would seem that with that large amount of publicity/sponsorship -
cancelling an event such as this would sure make HEADLINES.
Check Into It!

If you go on Sunday, then be sure to check out the group Navan at 5pm. They are an A cappella group from WI that sings in all the celtic tongues. I have seen them perform at previous festivals, and they are a delight to behold.

This is a shameless plug, but their website is found here: http://www.navan.org/ where you can check out some of their songs. Makes you want to get out yer kilt!!!
