I was searching for traditional pirates clothing in the 17th century. Why? because I'm Stage Managing this year's pantomime which is based on the story of Treasure Island. The Director assures me that pirates used to wear kilts or skirted garments, and as the stage crew will be in costume ... the opportunity to wear a kilt on stage is too good to miss.

CharlieOne incident that I shall never forget from maybe ten years ago. A young girl of maybe five or six who was holding her mother’s hand exclaimed in that loud outdoor voice common to the very young, “Skirts are for girls & pants are for boys!” Since both she & her mother were wearing pants I said, “Thank you young man. I’m glad your father brought you here to tell me that.” Her mother jerked that kid away so fast that one of her arms is probably still longer than the other.
In another case a few years back I was asked if I was a transvestite. My response to the pants wearing lady who asked, “No more than you are.”
Don’t let the hypocrites wear you down ! ! !
