I would say that you have mastered skirting in public. Great!

Jim & Coder; Thinking about you in the mid-west making good for MIS this week, 56 years after I was there -- for another 'landmark' occasion -- sadly in an all too male uniform rather than a skirt--wondering how that might go over now; and fearful skirts won't be featured on male patrons on the Hill for a while yet-- but I am delighted to see the mid-west school, church and community are ready for you! Jim, next time you find such great finds for $2 bucks -- better buy a carton for a few more of us!

I got a little surprise yesterday too, came to pick up my wife at work, and she wanted to go out to a café in the city so off we went. First time she is out in public with me skirted, and our daughter(8y) too. So that certainly felt good. No comments or compliments as usual, I don't even think I got any second glances. Hopefully it will help abate her fear that something nasty will happen, the ones based on her growing up in southern USA.
Had my black homemade below the knee skirt and a Mandalorian t-shirt (this is the way!). Daughter was wearing patterned jeans and wife had a dungaree from snags.

Seb it's a good feeling isn't it when you all go out together wearing whatever you want and world carries on as normal. No dramas.Seb wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 8:57 am I got a little surprise yesterday too, came to pick up my wife at work, and she wanted to go out to a café in the city so off we went. Have had a couple of good experiences myself recently. I walked the dog from my house to the river over the canal, walking past several people along route. Joined the canal tow path and headed upstream. While I was clearing my dogs poo a guy said "morning" in a friendly way. Crossed back over the next bridge and started heading home (45mins round trip) and met a fellow dog walker with "Zola". Zola's owner chatted about her dogs name and mentioned she had met my wife and son. Then Zola jumped up at me and she said sorry and hopefully my skirt wasn't fresh on. It doesn't matter I said.
Then on the way down to Devon we stopped at Cribbs Causeway and had a burger. First I saw a young guy in a mini skirt and tights (definitely MIS). He was joined by a male friend, then another male friend in big balloon pants (like MC Hammer), lastly a girl in a extraordinary outfit and pigtails. I was told afterwards it was cos play. The guy in the skirt was definitely not cos play.
Next week I going to France with my children and not taking shorts or trousers. Eeek!

You should be OK. I'm just back from Switzerland via France (on Swiss and French trains), skirted all the way. Wandered around Strasbourg and other places, including a short visit to Italy. Reactions? Just like home - noneBarleymower wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 3:05 pm Next week I going to France with my children and not taking shorts or trousers. Eeek!
Here's wife and me at the top of the Weisshorn (Arosa, Switzerland). We were about 2600m high and it was pleasantly warm. Charlie

I take trousers with me as well, just as a backup, but they never get unpacked.Barleymower wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 6:47 am I've just come back form Switzerland too and wore a skirt all the time even though I had trousers with me:

I have been on Madeira for sixdays and plan to stay a while. I have been wearing skirts all over town with no problems.

Same here but they do get unpacked, that's the trouble. I like nice skirts and I not that keen on plain skirts. This time I'm taking some plain skirts so I can vary my look.Charlie wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 10:39 amI take trousers with me as well, just as a backup, but they never get unpacked.Barleymower wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 6:47 am I've just come back form Switzerland too and wore a skirt all the time even though I had trousers with me:

I just took a trip driving from Atlanta to Chicago. I wore a skirt for the trip. It was an ankle length black skirt with some lace & little eyelets. We made a stop overnight halfway. Along the way we stopped at gas stations, rest areas, and fast food places. I checked into the motel wearing the skirt & went out to eat wearing it. It was very comfortable for the trip. As far as I can tell, no one took much notice. I didn't see any stares, or even double takes. It was wonderful to be out & about in a skirt.
Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
I am really pleased you had a great experience in a skirt. Once you realise that "Nobody Cares", it opens your mind up to skirting as much as you please. I get from the "we" that you had a partner that was cool with you in a skirt, so you seem to have the scene set for many more skirting adventures and free choice what you wear on a daily basis?prw230 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 11:52 am I just took a trip driving from Atlanta to Chicago. Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
Yes my wife was on the trip. I have worn skirts out with her on other vacations & out of town trips. I don't wear skirts out at home, as I am not ready for friends to see me in a skirt or dress
Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
You obviously know your friends and family, but maybe start with a utility kilt? Just an idea, no pressure, took me years to get to a denim utility kilt, but it opened the doors to skirt wearing full time. Also depends on you needs, time of life and so many other things.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
I went into town for (early) voting yesterday and wore a rather boring black skirt. I had planned to just wear pants because I've heard reports locally of some obnoxious poll watchers and just didn't want to deal with triggering anyone's trans-hostility (I'm not, but someone might assume...). As it turns out I was late getting back from grocery shopping and we had just enough time to pile in the car to get to the voting location over lunch break so I didn't bother changing.
The line was about 15 minutes long and I got a one or two quizzical looks from a few people but otherwise it went smoothly. Having my wife and grown son along probably made me feel calmer.
